I'm sure you will do fine with them. The worst problem with the whites seems to be getting them to reproduce, so I hope you have lots of luck there! :D

The male gonopods are beneath the Pair of swimmerettes that come up on the body. (The things that tell you whether or not your crayfish is a male.) You do need to lift them with a toothpick or something to be able to look at them. It is true that males go into Forms I and II each time they moult. Th...

Mustafa is correct, they could be clarki. The only way to tell is to look at the differences in the male's gonopods and they are pretty easy to distinguish if you really look at them. Both clarki and alleni are very good at escaping and neither are a dwarf species, so it's best to make sure your tan...

They really do seem to be drugged or in slow motion, but I have been reassured that they would regain their natural instincts if they were to get loose in the wild, so I guess they have to be handled carefully. :?

I don't normally start breeding mine until they are about 5 months old. I look for the white glair glands on the uropods (tail fins) of the females to see if they are mature enough. Here's a pic that shows the female's glands. They are pretty easy to see in the white alleni: http://i6.photobucket.co...

Marble crayfish are definitely not a dwarf species, though I can't find anything in my literature that states how large they can grow. I seem to remember reading somewhere that they can grow to 4 - 4 1/2 inches long.

They look like albino Procambarus Alleni to me. Albino crayfish don't have red eyes because they don't have red blood. The most noticeable trait of the albino alleni is the see through body and the visibility of their internal organs. Congrats on a great find! :D Oh, they can grow to about 6 inches.

My tank is at about 80F and the lights stay on for about 14 hours a day. Some days I don't turn the lights on, I figure they can have cloudy days now and again. Here's a pic I took last night of my mother that moulted, her sister to the left. There are at least 3 babies in this pic. One is to ...

I have seen the same behavior in my tank Terran. I can understand why it is believed these may have originated in a tank.

Badflash, after watching the babies in my tank I think you are correct about them losing out to the native inhabitants. The babies never hide and hardly move when I put my hand in to shoo them away from the filter intake so I can change the prefilter. I really don't think they would do well in the w...

TKD the problem crayfish in the UK is the signal crayfish, not the marmorkrebs. I think the marmorkrebs could have a problem establishing themselves in the wild because of their passive nature, but if they were to get established they could devastate the ecological balance of an area. Since they are...

The marble crayfish are very scarey for just that reason! I will be very careful with mine. Here's a pick of the babies under Mom's tail:
