You know you might take another look at the hardware store and see if you can't find some mesh in something like stainless. I was just visiting in San Francisco and the guys told me I had to go to this new shop, Aqua Forest, very close to downtown San Francisco. Very nice high end planted (Amano typ...

Mustafa, how about posting some closeup photos showing these "Yellow/orange" eggs? If someone's shrimp eggs don't match then they have a possible watchout. As stated, though that doesn't necessarily mean that having yellow/orange eggs is proof of a pure cherry shrimp. In your second photo ...

It's probably not the driftwood but most likely pesticides. At the AGA meeting in TN Amano stated that one should be very careful about adding new plants to any tank containing shrimp. Specifically he was talking about the Amano shrimp. Many of these plants are grown out of water and they do use pes...

hope you haven't shelled out the $$ for the lenses suggested yet. The AI-S 135 Nikon IS NOT a macro lens. At 1:7.5 you will be extremely upset when you see the final results. The other zoom lens have "macros" on the end but in the long run they are not going to be very effective either.

Seachem Excel - supposedly a substitute for CO2. You know I swear I remember someone in my club telling me that this stuff was messing up some scaleless fish of theirs. Thought it sounded strange at the time but figured if I was going to go heavy on plants I would do it the old fashioned way - PC's ...

Like I said in the original post - not using hot water to bring my water barrels up to temperature is not an option in the winter!!! That is why I'm wondering if anyone who had a copper problem or thought they had a copper problem and solved it with something like Novaqua or Ultimate. I have 1500 ga...

No, don't really care to either. The whole point was looking for a water treatment that would not only knock out Chloramine, the ammonia and the chlorine component but also removal of heavy metals such as copper. Prime doesn't remove heavy metals so wouldn't be something that would be helpful for th...

Ultimate - removing chloramines and chelating heavy metals

As I've been looking around on the forum I notice for shrimp that removal of chloramines are pretty important and also the subject of heavy metals such as copper toxicity has also come up. So much so that it has been suggested that hot water not even be used for adjusting the temperature of the wate...

Thanks Mustafa and Uwe for the suggestions on the ID. I'll post below a closer photo of the first shrimp from the "M. hendersoni" group/red claw macro. You get a little better look at the second chelipeds in that shot but still might not be enough. I'm also posting a scan of the male for p...

Trying to identify a few shrimp

Hopefully I can post these correctly. I'm pretty confident that the one is Neo palmata so I'm really interested in finding out what the Macro is. I'm thinking Rusty but... The second macro was sold to me as a whisker shrimp. Also I swear I've seen this red shrimp with the white stripe before but I'v...
