Re: Malawa update

Thanks Mstafa! I'm pretty sad that I wasn't able to keep some of the other shrimp I got from you going. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong for them.

Re: Malawa update

Like infopimp's, my Malawa shrimp are doing GREAT. They are a very active, fun shrimp. I'm also seeing some interesting color variations. Here is one of them that is quite striking. I'm seeing a good number of shrimp with similar coloration and am thinking about setting up a separate tank for part o...

Do you have more than the one shrimp? Hopefully, you will be able to get your shrimp colony going well. Good luck with them. :D

You could try using a plastic bottle with the top cut off and inverted with some food inside to entice them in. I use empty water bottles for this. Or the next time you feed watch for the RCS to come out to eat and catch it then.

Re: Malawa update

Hi infopimp!! The odd colored shrimp are yellows. Sorry, I should have mentioned I have both in this tank. I was just excited that the Malawas are really doing well. Although my picture isn't the best because it was a holding container. :D

Re: Is this how the first red bees looked?

I have learned that blue on a bumblebee shrimp indicates it is stressed by something. Does anyone else have more info on this? I regularly have red cherries develop blue patterns. They seem healthy, are active, breed well... I have also had ghosts turn blue, the crayfish I had many years ago turned...

Yes, there is all kinds of excellent information to read here on your forum. When I first started I went back through and read all of the old posts I could. It was really interesting to follow the progression of the hobby through everyone's posts. :)

Re: Malawa Shrimp - Photo Gallery and Blog

Infopimp, it's awesome you are having berried females and seeing babies. It is such a joy to see the first baby of a shrimp you are trying to keep. Mustafa, There are some us who are trying to get colonies established.....there is just such a learning curve to successfully keeping shrimp long term a...

Re: Is this how the first red bees looked?

Your shrimp is very pretty. :smt023 When I first started keeping bumblebees I thought I had some pretty blue ones mixed in with my regular colored shrimp. During my shrimp keeping journey, I have learned that blue on a bumblebee shrimp indicates it is stressed by something. Are your shrimp still sho...
