Re: New Orange shrimp purchase

I think the reason I'm loosing mine is the well water here. I probalby need to condition it with something. Don't know what - but can certainly do my research.

Re: New Orange shrimp purchase

Are these the shrimp you guys are talking about? I got some in back in January, but since that time, all that happens is that I keep loosing them. I started with 21 and now I'm down to 12 of them. None ever reproduce - so the all female comment makes sense - BUT the coloration of some of them is MUC...

Mustafa - if I had been able to find anything pertinent to my question and the pics that I presented - I wouldn't have posted my question. Problem is - I didn't find anything. Sorry if I missed something.

Can someone tell me what this orange shrimp is??

It was sold to me as an "Orange Bee" - but I don't believe it. Markings aren't right and they don't reproduce fast like the bees should - in fact I've had them for several months and NO babies at all! They are an inch long or just a teeny tad over. In case someone asks, our PH is aroun 7.4...

Re: Shrimp tank +planaria -- veggies ok?

About the only way I "could" like them is if I had a bare bottom tank full of them and just put some fish in there from time to time for a feast. Otherwise I would be afraid of an outbreak somewhere else. I think it's like Malaria - avoid at all costs!

Re: Shrimp tank +planaria -- veggies ok?

You brave souls can try the other methods above, but for me, catching each and every shrimp and snail is nigh unto impossible! So, I think I have a new indicator (and "trap" of sorts). I use a natural sea sponge (seasoned in another tank for "goodies") in my shrimp tank. The shri...

Re: Shrimp tank +planaria -- veggies ok?

If you put food in the tank I think you are feeding anything that gets to the food be it shrimp, snails, fish or planaria. Well that totally stinks, I still have to feed the others! Something must be "off the planaria's menu"!? There has to be something the just won't eat :? BTW, in case ...

Shrimp tank +planaria -- veggies ok?

I have done a major gravel vac to rid the tanks (2 shrimp tanks) of "most" of the dreaded buggers, but still have loads of shrimp, MTS snails, and a couple of veggie loving BN plecos in the tanks to feed. I want to starve out the remainder of the planaria, but needless to say - don't want ...
