Re: P. paludosus larval rearing
Hello Mustafa: Thanks for the info. I've seen the adults get close to the larvae but they seem too quick to be grabbed by the adults. The tank has lots of anacharis and now a big clump of java moss. That being said, despite their probably have been 100 or so larvae released I've only seen a couple o...

Re: P. paludosus larval rearing
Simple. If it is easier for keepers in general, and produces same or almost as good results(I suspect you'd have somewhat lower mortality with feeding) then no reason to tell people otherwise. If I had known these guys did not need planktonic food, and that they only floated around for a week or so ...

Re: P. paludosus larval rearing
Hello zapisto, read here http://www.fao.org/docrep/005/ac741t/AC741T24.htm "Palaemonetes paludosus has abbreviated development, passing through three larval stages before attaining the postlarva. Of 302 larvae reared, 200 reached the postlarva in five to ten days without being fed." The im...

P. paludosus larval rearing
i've read thru numerous threads on this species here and wonder if anyone has anyone has developed a system to rear these guys successfully in decent numbers. According to an article(look up P. paludosus larval rearing) P. paludosus larvae do not need to feed during the larval stage...versus the oth...

Re: red claw macro compatibility
Thanks! The loaches were a substitute for figuring how they might act with newts. I was hoping they'd be relatively sedentary and could have a cave or two to lurk in while the other shrimp could hide amongst the moss. Guess not.

red claw macro compatibility
It mentions in the caresheet they will eat smaller shrimp. Have anyone had success keeping them together longterm(as in, both species keeping up their numbers?). Also, how bad are they with bottom feeders such as loaches? I am considering them for a newt tank that also has red cherry shrimp. It is a...

Re: Clarkii hatch
Do female clarkii need any special treatment post-mating to encourage laying of eggs(chilling etc.) how long does it take after they mate? Do they only produce one batch of eggs per molt?

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
I only have a pair ATM. Ordered in 3, due to sending mistake delayed for 2 days so female DOA'ed. One of the males died a few days in. Today got replacement female. Guba: Sorry to hear that! So you've had them for a few months already? Lets hope your females have already mated. Mustafa: How big is y...

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
Alot of people have noted them retreating to water when disturbed...though that could be an artifact of captive conditions. I still find it hard to believe they do not burrow. Do they at least modify retreats somewhat? Here's how my planned enclosure looks. It is about 75% land if not more. False bo...

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
The big problem is we don't know the natural habitat of these guys. I've been told they do not burrow and are a bit arboreal. What?! That is unlike any crab I've ever seen...but then they are weird in plenty of other ways. Supposedly occur around tiny rainforest creeks. One Geosesarma species has be...

Re: Celebes Jungle Crabs
Seems like it shouldn't be too hard based on how the Europeans are doing. I think we haven't had them for long enough to get them to breed.

sexing redclaw
Anyone know at what length redclaw can be sexed? I looked at a few in about the 2.5-3inch range and all appeared female.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Orange Clarkii hatch
On the other hand...what are the chances of this mutation simply being spontaneous and having nothing to do with previous white crayfish?
