Re: sstimac's gallery

I really could not imagine the amount of work it would take to keep this tank looking nice with CO2 and ferts. Already, I have to spend a fair amount of time pruning and pulling. I was told months ago that I would have algae blooms without CO2 and that my tank would fall apart. This turned out to be...

Re: New Orange shrimp purchase

These shrimp have been readily available in my area for awhile now. They cost $2.50 each, not a really bad price. Of the ones that I have seen they appear to be in very good health. I used to work at the store that carries them and they have reported fewer losses per capita than amano shrimp. I have...

Re: Halocaridina rubra

The simple act of buying the ecospheres support those who make them. I would love some rubras, but will not be buying any of the ecospheres.

Re: New Orange shrimp purchase

After doing more research on them, I have decided not to buy any of them. Many people have reported losses with them. There are some for sale on an auction house right now and I asked the seller whether they were tank raised or imported. He or she said that they were tank raised. They appear to be t...

Re: New Orange shrimp purchase

Excellent thanks for letting me know. My LFS has eight of these shrimp one is, I believe, a male. His coloration is more of a pale yellow, whereas the others are a very nice orange. Several of them are saddled.

Re: New Orange shrimp purchase

Digging up an old post. I was wondering if anyone has nailed down whether or not these larvae need saltwater. I have recently seen these for sale in town.

Re: multi-colored CRS eggs

A true breeding strain of RCS should have Yellow eggs. I have never seen White Eggs that have hatched. If you have this many different colored eggs, I would have to say that your RCS are not a true breeding RCS. They may have been house with another Neocaridina species. John It is possible. It woul...

Re: multi-colored CRS eggs

Me too. I have females that have light green eggs, some have a darker green, and some have white eggs. I have never seen one of my shrimp have eggs that were two different colors. The female in question is one of my females that was born in this tank.

Re: RCS and Seachem's Flourish

I used to fertilise. My cherries did not breed well, it was only the first month though. I also lost some, but this could have been due to the stress of moving. I keep Madagascar Lace plants in my set up and even without ferts and CO2 they are doing very well. My glosso does not do well without fert...

Re: ID Help Please

It has been official for a few days now, the shrimp in question is dead. I found him hiding in the Rotala. Whatever it is that he had does not seem to be affecting the cherries.

Re: sstimac's gallery

I do not know why it is displaying so small. It is only 50kb smaller than what is allowed when using the attachment function. I am a little disappointed that it is so small. I think the original one that I posted was 600 pixels wide at 72ppi. I know what I did. I scaled it down without decreasing t...
