Thank you, Badflash, thats good to hear :D So could I keep some of them with Neocardinia species? The ones that look like cherries but are transparent? I kept them in the past, they were wonderful so I was wondering if it were possible. I think you have a wild-type variant of Neocaridina denticulat...

Shipping Macrobrachium

How exactly would one go about packaging Macrobrachium large enough to puncture 3-millimeter-thick Kordon Breather Bags?

Would similar precautions have to be taken for large Atya spp.?

Breeding Macrobrachium pilimanus

I've just obtained an ovigerous "chameleon shrimp" (presumably M. pilimanus ). Though I unfortunately have no experience with saltwater setups, I'd like to take a shot at rearing some of the resultant larvae to adulthood. I understand that the young of this species adhere to "low-orde...

Are you sure you have flat worms 0_o. It sounds like you have planaria and some harmless nematodes feeding off excess food/nutrients. Flatworms are salt water creatures. I don't doubt that there are freshwater ones but I've never heard of 'em. Any chance for a linky? I wouldn't think a saltwater pr...

Re: Unknown Shrimp, help!

It's practically impossible to identify Macrobrachium spp., especially juveniles, from written descriptions. In many cases, only detailed physical examination of the actual specimen will suffice. Can you provide an image?

Wrong forum. C. patzcuarensis are not shrimp.

Re: HELP with identification

It definitely belongs to some species of Macrobrachium. I would separate it from your fish, as it probably consumed your neons.

Re: Glass Shrimp

badflash wrote:Ghost shrimp are also called glass shrimp and are Palaemonetes paludosus and there is a picture there. These are sold as feeder shrimp for fish food and normally are under 50 cents each.
A note: I don't believe these are widely sold, if at all, outside of North America.

It's a dragonfly larva, and, depending on its size, may pose a risk to certain shrimp (especially juveniles).
