Temp: 84F is what catches my attention :!: That is at the high end of the spectrum and most shrimp will have problems with the temp being that high. I use a clip on fan which lowers my temp by 6 degrees F. It's actually what I set it at, it's because my pleco's are warm water species and they...

Looking For A Shrimp Species

I'm looking for a new shrimp species that isn't a prolific breeder like my current RCS, that isn't too competitive for food like Amano's are and is small like RCS. Anyone have suggestions?

Cherry, what's the highest?

I'm wondering what's the highest temperature you've kept your Cherry's at? I wanted to know if 88F would be suitable.

Albino Cherry Shrimp?

Well today while looking through my over populated 20L I noticed an odd Cherry shrimp that was much whiter than regular males. Is this an albino? I managed to snap a quick picture, I didn't have time to pull out the tripod so it's really blurry: http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c28/Raul-7/P1000238....

How long have they been breeding like crazy? At the levels you have my cherries stopped showing saddles (I don't see one in your pic) and baby production stopped entirely. Once I got nitrates below 5 and phosphates below 2 they started breeding non-stop. If the nutrient levels are maintained artifi...

The problem with ferts is they tend to build up over time and kill your shrimp. Copper isn't the only thing to worry about. Plants like iron and shrimp don't. My observation is you need to chose between shrimp and ferts. If you have hair algae, you probably already have too much nitrate and phospha...

Great! Because I'm keeping them with Zebra pleco fry; who are also very shy, and slow.

I just bought some Cherry Shrimp, but I was wondering how docile and timid are they? Will they steal food from other fish, etc. :?

Sorry to bring this back up; but are Cherry Shrimp good scavengers? I mean I want to use them as a clean up crew in my breeding tank; could they do the job of eating the leftovers?

So shrimp are great at eating uneaten food? That would be a great advantage in my breeding tank.

DatDamWuf; just add some PO4 via Fleet Enema. But remember it is very concentrated, so only use a couple of drops.

So most everyone has shrimp for display? Tigers will do fine for that purpose, thanks everyone for their insight. :) Algae is caused by a nutrient imbalance; limiting one nutrient will only make it worse. Keep NO3 between 10-15ppm, PO4 at 1.5-2ppm and K between 10-20ppm and the algae will slow...

Good Algae Eating Shrimp?

I will soon setup a 30G cube and I was looking for a shrimp with good algae eating capabilities. I know most shrimp out there eat algae, but some are better at it than others. The Tiger species is at the top of my list, but I'm not sure how good they are at eating algae? I'm assuming the Cherry shri...
