Mustafa, Good observation, the hook for bee shrimps is true for most shrimps that have "broken" pattern. In some cases, they do not have hook. http://www.shrimpnow.com/mygallery/files/2/no_hook1.jpg Some comes with a white tiger tooth : http://www.shrimpnow.com/mygallery/files/2/no_hook2.j...

Mustafa,

How would you derive "ideal condition" of certain shrimps say bee shrimps when the collection location is kept a secret.

As far as I know all bumblebees that are sold in the US currently (and most other countries) are wild-caught. There is no fish farm or anything that breeds them. And yes, they can have variation in coloration depending on mood, environment etc. Not only mood and environment. I was in Southern China...

Re: .........

Calcium is good for proper shell growth, but will not help with moulting. You need to buy some Iodine. I use Kent Marine Concentrated Iodine, it's usually by the saltwater stuff in your local pet store. Usually costs about $8.99, for 8 oz. Good luck ! Its also safe for all fishes. Mustafa said shri...

javagirl, Bear in mind that CRS are not widely available. Hard to get=more expensive. Plus, even if you order, you have to take into account shipping costs, which isn't cheap either. $5-6 is reasonable. The cost of CRS won't be as cheap as cherry shrimp, even the lowest grade CRS will not be as che...

For the record I think Cherry Reds are way overpriced as well, considering their ease of keeping and easy prolific breeding. So maybe I'm just a cheapskate! Well said, it has became a pest in my planted tank, and there is no way for me to remove them. And I do not understand why it costs $3 per shr...

I knew a hobbyist acidentally increased CO2 injection and his amano shrimps turn nice blue, and massy death after that.

So is blue an indication of health/stress? You decide. :) Or simply it is natural? I guess you have to see the conditions they are in to decide and if they live pass tomorrows.

oh no, then should i separate the bees and crystals to prevent inbreeding? :? Yes, if you want to keep both color variations pure you should separate them. Otherwise, after several generations, you will only have black and white shrimp instead of red and white. Mustafa keep a small number of bee wi...
