Hey Adam, welcome to the hobby. Sounds like you have everything you need to successfully keep shrimp. I would not add bread crumbs, or any food for that matter. Hello, it is best to wait more than just over a week, to let the tank cycle. Check your water parameters and maybe it will indicate high ammonia. This behavior sounds like poor water quality.

I was wondering what type of crayfish is generally more active than others? Also, are males more active than females?
I ask because I had a crayfish (procambarus clarkii, female), and found her to be always hiding.
