Re: Macrobrachium sp. "Red Claw" with eggs
On a hunch, I threw a berried female in an empty cycled 10-gallon. She didn't come out much for the first week and I got worried. Then... she shed. That worried me more, thinking she may have lost the eggs. I took a few moments last night to take a more careful look in the tank, and sure enough, the...

Don't mind the loud rustling of the food pellet bag. You can see the brown speck on each side of his shell. Seems odd. Just want to make sure it isn't fatal.

Re: Quick vid of my prawn
I noticed a small brown speck that formed on his shell since yesterday. It's about the size a pinhead and in the middle of the shell (behind the head). Cause for concern? I'm guessing there isn't much I can do either way about it. :/

http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/2769/clawdiayzoidberg.jpg Awful pic. I'm sorry. :( They are getting along a LOT better now. The female (Clawdia lol) is much more active than the male. It's interesting. I hope they are able to live long and prosper. More pics and description to come as I discover...

And he keeps growing... http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/728/prawnasauruscrazy.jpg http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/4992/prawnasauruscrazy2.jpg This was an incredible shed. Very dramatic increase in size of chelae. There are noticeable spines on the claws. The pinchers measure over an inch alone...

Re: Bad molt question
Bad news. Little bugger passed away in the night. Still unsure of the reason as the water parameters seem exceptional. Poor guy. RIP Mr. Queso

Re: Cherax destructor-yabbies
Great news everyone! The female arrived safe and is happily acclimated to the tank. Zoidberg doesn't seem thrilled with her atm, but I hope he will get :smt007 soon. She is significantly larger than him and I think that is a good thing. As an added bonus, both lobsters are out and no longer hiding. ...

Re: Cherax destructor-yabbies
The female's transit time has been sped up and she will arrive here in a couple hours. I hope for a live specimen and successful acclimation. Last night I changed out the rough gravel for pool sand. Zoidberg wasn't happy about it. However, this morning he came running out to me with claws outstretch...

Bad molt question
One of my smaller blue prawn shed about a week ago and has not been right since. It did not touch the carapace, and will not eat any food I put in the tank. It seems very skittish and all out of sorts. Oddly enough, this specimen shows no signs of physical warpage (all appendages are fine). Is this ...

Re: Cherax destructor-yabbies
It appears that this guy is getting a little more outgoing with time. The new female should be here by Thurs. I'm hoping to remodel the tank a little by replacing the gravel bottom with sand and possibly add some driftwood as well as change around the cave layout. Will get some pics this weekend.

Re: Quick vid of my prawn
I remember trading a PM with you about that guy. Would love to get a carcinus myself. These rosenbergii are really fun. Prawnasaurus shed last night and grew incrementally. I'll throw up a pic when he's done eating the carapace. The force is crazy with this one. :P :) edit: Pic of him on his cave. A...

Re: Quick vid of my prawn
This is the biggest of my blue prawn. Name is Cloverfield.. Figured it was apt. His body is close to 5" now. He rules his 55-gallon tank with an iron claw. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k3fXNdqmUs&list=UUmr6iZ45SxVX-lgNIK5uZhQ&index=2&feature=plcp Next up is the middle child-Prawn...

Re: Macrobrachium sp. "Red Claw" with eggs
More baby red claw macros. There are at least six in this batch. It's funny how long it takes to see them emerge after seeing the mother no longer berried. This female lived to talk about it, so I couldn't be happier. The babies are adorable, especially among the cherry young. :D http://img820.image...

Re: Cherax destructor-yabbies
Wanted to add that I will remove the crude substrate from that tank soon and replace it with pool filter sand. If anyone has recommendations for different decorations, I'd be happy to entertain changing the layout around. For now I'm on a budget but I really don't love the way it looks. In the end, ...
