Mustafa you were right about the PH.
I bought a Tetra drop test, and it shows something between 8.0 and 8.5.
I thought the peat would have much more effect on the PH.
As far as I have understood, I need softer water to lower the PH succesfully.

When i change water in the tank i use half RO water and half tap water filtrated over peat for 24 hours.
The tank contains oakleaves, peat and wood.

Or maybe the testkits is not precise.
KH, GH and NO2 is measured with Tetra droptests.
PH is measured with a noname strip.

GB: Very nice pictures :) Congrats on the shrimplets. Kenshin: I don't know what the ideal setup for breeding bumblebees is. I'm still hoping mine will breed again :). I've had 2 bumblebee females carrying eggs. The first dropped all the eggs. The second dropped all except 2 eggs. That resulted in 1...

While your waiting for the eggs to hatch, you can enjoy this little shrimp. He/she is now 7-8 mm. long. http://www.aquabo.dk/junk/10240076unge.JPG The red female I wrote about has been invisible for over a week, so I'm afraid that she is dead. Today there's also a lot of activity in my Bumblebee tan...

bochr, I know if my bumble bees look that red, pretty much they going to heaven soon. But when I look at the first 2 pictures here: http://www.wirbellose.de/arten.cgi?action=sho...

Very nice pictures GB. It looks like yours has an extra black band compared to mine. I'm not sure the red colouration is bad. One of my bb females sometimes become red for a couple og days, and then change back to normal colours again. She has done it several times over the last couple of months, an...

The Bumblebees have all 8 gallons to themselves.
They are kept in tapwater with a little peat in the filter. No waterpreparation or chemicals added.

I bought 14 and have 3 males and 3 females left - and a baby :)
The adult shrimp is a female but not the mom.

This is the same female with a male in the foreground.

Well that's pretty nice :) because i only have 1 Tiger female left.

There's still one Macrobrachium female carrying eggs. I'll move her to an empty tank.

The 5 Macrobrachium is the only shrimps in the tank.
The shrimplets must be Caridina sp. "Tiger" then. I moved my tigers from this tank a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the ID.

I got a bit confused about the species, because the info on wirbellose.de says that the larvae should be freeswimming at least 4 weeks.
And mine were only swimming for 1-2 days.
