^^^^ LOL

Incest isn't bad unless there are shrimps with "undesireable" traits breeding, and passing those traits on. However, nature usually takes over first, and kills off the weaker shrimp before they procreate.

Don't quote me, but I think that Palaemonetes are found in lightly brackish waters as well.

That is horrible to hear Robert. Hopefully that is not the case here, and that it is just some different strain of 'Amano' due to selective breeding. However, ink injected shrimp are probably not far from the truth, since that is what they do to "painted" glassfish.

what's the name of that shrimp in that picture?? i love it! is it a cross breed between a cherry red and bumble bee shrimp? Its called a crystal red shrimp. It is a hybrid of the bee shrimp. Basically a difference in the chemicals in its body gives it the red colored shell instead of the black/brow...

Large amounts will harm animals. Small micro amounts won't. Since it is unneccsary though, why put any in? Saltwater aquarists use it only to provide a more natural environment. There is a small (micro) amount of iodine in seawater, and all plant an animal life in the sea contains small amounts of t...

The best way to do it is veeeeery slowly. Put them in a temporary holding tank containing water similar to what they are in now. The acclamation process may take weeks (yes weeks) as you must only raise the salt gravity by .002 every week. This will minimize the stress the animal goes through. Hopef...

yeah, those are all photoshopped pictures. I could turn those signs into "God loves shrimp" :)

Still i laughed a bit at how absurd the site was and tried to think of a reason why someone would devote a website to such a thing

That is a very nice looking specimen. It seems to me that there are a lot of similar looking, yet unidentifiable shrimp out there. Could this be because of cross breeding between species?

I found a very nice article on iodine in marine aquaria. Doesn't exactly apply here, but it is an interesting read nonetheless.

Hmmmm. Well, I just saw a few pictures of some really nice looking Crystal Red shrimp and I must say I am becoming quite fascinated with them. I love their coloration. Though I have read they can be a bit more difficult to take care of because they are pickier about their environment. Mustafa, what ...

Ive had ghost shrimp in the past that have successfully reproduced in a community tank. However im looking for a shri...

We are lucky to have experienced people like yourself to help us. I was taking my information from other websites, many of which sold such items (an obvious re...

yes it does sound as if the water could have something in it. Did you wash the tank with soap? That is usually a bad thing to do because soap residue tends to contaminate the water of the tank afterwards. :?

Iodine and calcium are necessary for the health of all shellfish. Adding a bit of iodine every once in a while is a very good idea. Also, if the shrimp will eat it, certain crab foods will contain iodine and calcium. Buy a small can of crab food pellets and drop a few in the tank to see if the shrim...
