Re: Hawaiian Red Shrimp...my turn.

Thought I'd just revive and update my thread on these shrimp. No problems since the last post. My colony thrives very well in the same ten gallon set up, although I have removed the filter and heater. I believe (estimate) the colony size to be around 400 shrimp. There are so many that I do need to s...

Re: Pearl Shrimp

My females keep producing eggs and they eat the hatched young as I don't have an empty tank to separate them into. After reviewing the description page on these shrimp, I didn't read anything about them eating they're young. Is this info something that should be added to the description page? Or is...

All of the advice I can give you has already been posted in my thread titled "My white headed bumblebees". Other than what is there, there isn't much more to tell. Soft water, moderate to acidic pH, steady parameters, and cooler temps. There aren't any secrets and although you state that y...

Thanks for the update, I was woondering about these guys. Are there any special requirements that you find they need? Also, do you have them in their own seperate tank? Although the adults have had ups and downs with actually more downs the juveniles seem to be thriving. Again this tank took such a...

Steady as she goes with this colony of shrimp. Having no losses and population continues to grow. Almost time to thin out the tank to avoid any overpopulation problems, but not quite there.

Things have been going well for the most part since last updating. Lost a couple more of the adults, but the uveniles are doing well with no losses. They are growing larger and becoming more visible all the time. Still looks to be a solid ten count in numbers.

I believe you! I had one of these, it is now in a landfill somewhere Exactly. I must say one of my best stress releases I ever had was picking up my Fluval 403 that was full of water and media and chucking it as far as I could across my bricked patio. :smt077 Watching it crash and burn instantly re...

Counted six young today...maybe there are more? fingers still crossed. As for the problems I've been having...nothing more than unstable nitrate levels, or at least that is all I can figure. All other parameters are measuring fine. It just seems this is one of those tanks that is problematic. If you...

Though hard to see and therefore count, it seems around five young are still alive. I have yet to count higher than that since day one of the hatch. They are growing and very active. Only five of the adults are still kicking and screaming. I consider this to be a success so far as this tank has been...

Most of the shrimp I purchased in this group bit the dust, but a few of the ones that look to be zebras are doing quite well and have colored up nicely. The odd ones seemed to be doing well, but only one or two are left. Definitley not green shrimp though. I'll try and snap some more photos and post...

Six of the original 13 are still alive and one new shrimp was added so the total is still at seven. Yesterday the one female finally dropped her eggs after carrying them for four weeks. The eggs turned very red for the last two days and the baby shrimp are of a reddish hue. I've seen three or so of ...

Are these zebras? Male? http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a161/frugalfish/Shrimp/zebra1.jpg Female? http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a161/frugalfish/Shrimp/zebra2.jpg This one was mixed in with this batch of shrimp, but I think it's different than the two above. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...

Update These shrimp are doing well and population is growing more steadily. I believe the original three have now all passed and the remaining residents are all the ones born in this tank. No problems to report here. :-D
