Re: This happened on Mother's Day. See Video
Sorry it's a QuickTime video. I probably should have put it on YouTube.

This happened on Mother's Day. See Video
I just wanted to share one of my berried shrimp that just released a baby. Didn't capture the actual release that must have happened a few seconds before. Also, at 14 seconds you can see I have a snow white shrimp not any sign of pink, red or another color but white. He stands out like a beacon. He ...

Re: Lighting
So just trying to get this right.
So the shrimp eat the bacteria on the algae and I guess other parts of the tank such as the gravel, rocks, etc…
and the light doesn't play a part in the growth of the bacteria? Is that right?
What helps the bacteria grow?

Re: Lighting
Good idea Ken but do you think these lights are strong enough to grow algae? They seem kind of weak for that.

Lighting
I just moved my tank to a bookshelf and will now need some new lighting. Can anyone recommend a light that would be strong enough to grow some algae in a four gallon tank? It would also be nice if the lighting had some blue lights along with the white lights too. I know LED is the way to go but has ...

Need help regarding filling tank.
I'm wondering if anyone could help me with this one. I am making a shrimp tank for a friend. I bought a one gallon tank and had enough water from a two year old shrimp tank of mine but I only had enough to fill it almost to the top as you can see in the picture. So here is the question: Can I fill t...

Re: Hermit crabs and Opae sharing food
Thanks for sharing these great pictures. So it's okay to put a spinach leaf in the water? Do you remove it after a few hours?

Re: Opae and sea fans
Your tank looks BEAUTIFUL! Love the sea fans. Where did you get sea fans? Hope I'm not breaking rules by asking? You can send me a private message. The ones I have been seeing are to big for my tank.

Re: photos of dwarf hermit
My personal opinion is not all the crabs due well with the shipping process or perhaps some are not so healthy to begin with before being shipped. I believe they do not attack each other at least I have not experience seeing it. I do think once dead they will eat the remains just like the shrimp. I ...

Re: Check out this new shell for my hermit crab
Sounds like a nice camera. I'm looking for another point and shoot myself. I would love a very long zoom, over 20 MP, shoots RAW and is light to carry. I wonder if I will be able to find something like that? Also, it would be real nice if it was one of those mirror less cameras. I love photography I...

Re: Check out this new shell for my hermit crab
OMG!! That has to be the most beautiful hermit crab on this planet. Woo Hoo! I wish mine would set up house in one of my red Nerite shells. Two are now in the shells that I bought with the crabs and one is still in his ugly black one. I'm sure I asked you this but are those pictures you're taking wi...

Re: Additions to tanks
There may be some confusion as to the type of hermit crabs I have obtained. They are dwarf hermits - Clibanarius zebra. They are also called hairy legged hermits and tree hermits, although they are not land crabs. I can see why they are called tree hermits, as they like to spend time high up on my ...

I love those little dried starfish but thought they would change the water chemistry. Are you saying it's safe to do?Harry wrote:They are dried starfish from the guy with the colorful nerite shells. Also got some silver dollar shells for my big tank.

That's funny Harry. Are those dried starfish?

My little 1/2 gallon shrimp tank is on my nightstand. When I woke up this morning I had these little cute eyes staring at me.
