Re: Tiny Organism specks

Probably copepods. If they are, I'm thinking they wouldn't scare the opae ula.

Re: Is this algae or settled dust on the surface of my tank?

There's a bit of a film on the surface of the water in my bookshelf tank. It's a bit green in the color. Think it's single celled algae. The Opae Ula frequently hang upside down under it scraping off the good bits.

Re: New crustacean babies.

Hi Harry, From what I've noticed the hermits (at least in my tanks with live rock) don't go after the same foods as the opae ula. They tend to spend most of their time on the live rock while the shrimp target the sand, the tank surfaces, the sponge filter and the barely noticeable algal film on the ...

Harry... I have two blue legs in my old 10 gallon tank and two red legs (which are slightly larger), in the Bookshelf.

Re: New crustacean babies.

Hi Harry... Please keep in mind that I have the hermits in brackish tanks with live rock. The crabs munch on the live rock for much of the day, finding who knows what for dinner. They're very good at keeping it clean. I've read that they eat algae, diatoms and cyanobacteria. They also scavenge. I do...
