Re: Do I need to cycle if transferring everything to a new tank?
I just did the same thing last week, but went up to a larger tank (by 15 gallons). Had no problems, except catching baby shrimp. As previously stated, moving all you hardscape and macro algae(if you have it) should bring enough bacteria until the tank balances out again.
Good luck!

Re: high tank or low tank?
I am planning on a higher tank. These shrimp don't stay entirely at the bottom of the tank like freshwater micro shrimp. I want to do a lava wall on the back, angling down on the sides, minimum 15 gal. I am aiming for it to mimic a slice of their natural habitat.

Re: How many shrimp to add to a cycled tank with heavy algae growth
From what I recall, some 50 per gallon, if you build up. So you can start with 10 per gallon. You don't want to max out stocking, beneficial bacteria will need to build up to the number of shrimp, and you will want room for babies.

Re: New article about "brackish tolerant plants"
It is the only little patch I have, noticed it about a year ago. Really hasn't grown much, it's all cute and fluffy. Will be keeping an eye on it to see if it starts growing really fast. With how fine it is I can see how shrimp can get trapped in it.

Re: Ascension volcano shrimp
Okay, that was a cool video. And those are cool shrimp. Was not able to determine how small they are, but I would like a tank of them. Getting them might be difficult, considering the plans to turn a good chunk of the island and surrounding ocean into a refuge. You would have to get permission to re...

Hello. It has been a while since there has been an update, how is the color morph breeding project going? Will orange be up for sale next year? Did you find any of the white shrimp?

Re: New article about "brackish tolerant plants"
I have a new form of algae in my tank, showed up about a year ago. Very slow growing. It is growing at the base of one of my small lava rock mountains. It has a very fine texture. Don't know where it came from, my tank has had no contact with any actual sea life. But there it is. It is small, shrimp...

Re: Signs of spring
I am not sure they follow cycles, being right near the equator seasons are pretty much the same. I have had berried shrimp in December. Pictures will come as soon as I find the little cable to hook the camera to the computer. It's around here somewhere... Things have changed a little since my last p...

Re: Importance of Lava Rock
The way how I look at it is, lava rock is what they know. It is home to them. I use black lava rock in my tank, they stand out well against it, and the anchialine pools they originally came from are lined with the stuff. Which makes sense considering how the Hawaiian Islands were formed. And it look...

Re: Emergency, help needed
It is very easy to 'over care' for these shrimp, especially if you keep other shrimp, because they don't need much. They are the easiest aquatic pet to take care of, short of having a plastic fish in a tank (and even that will get algae you have to clean). Give them light, top off the tank with RO w...
