Re: Some pics of my 3 gallon and 26.5L/7 gallon tanks
Ken, the majority of the algae is Angel hair moss from another vendor. I do have Mustafa's microalgae as well but it grows more slowly. The angle hair can become invasive if not periodically trimmed back but this is pretty easy and I don't find the shrimp have any difficulty moving around, getting s...

Re: Some pics of my 3 gallon and 26.5L/7 gallon tanks
Adding to my earlier post, here is the original 3gal shrimptank that I set up. It's similar to the other 3gal I have and it's been running for just under two years with ~40 shrimp, 5-6 snails and a couple of miniature hermit crabs.

Re: Some pics of my 3 gallon and 26.5L/7 gallon tanks
Ken, I don't think the LED lighting inherently brightens the blue color. I actually have the blue tone LEDs in the system shut off and I'm only using the pure white LEDs and the green/red subleds. This Zetlight configuration is supposed to most closely mimic natural sunlight. Hope this helps

Re: Some pics of my 3 gallon and 26.5L/7 gallon tanks
Thanks Mech. Appreciate the kind feedback. The coral is blue ridge sea coral that I picked up from eBay. There is lots of it generally available. I found it really pops under the Zetlight as the LED lighting spectrum accentuates the blue color and mixes things up contrast-wide in the tank.

Some pics of my 3 gallon and 26.5L/7 gallon tanks
I don't think I've gotten around to posting any pics of my setups so I wanted to share some shots of both my three gallon bowl (up and running for about 18 months) and my latest tank, a 26.5L/7 gallon setup (using a very large Pyrex laboratory cylinder) that's about six months old. I have about 55 s...

Re: Any recommendations on lighting?
Erica, I'm sure there are many options but I've had good luck using Zetlight LEDs. I use their mini ZN1011 series on my two 3 gallon fishbowl tanks and their Nano series ZN1702 on my larger seven gallon cylinder tank. Link to Zetlight below. From what I've gathered, both lights generate natural sunl...

Re: Brackish moss balls
I had the same occurrence as my recently introduced moss ball initially looked stable / intact for about two weeks and then rather suddenly git smaller (and less symmetrical) and eventually disappeared in about three or four days. I chalked this up to the small hermit crabs that I have in my tank. W...

Re: Problem with micro algae dying - Copepods to blame?
Thanks for the response Ken. I do indeed have copepods in my second ecosystem, however they haven't proliferated in the same fashion that I've seen in the ecosystem with the microalgae issue. To your point, the copepod "bloom" is likely a result of the dying microalgae providing an abundan...

Problem with micro algae dying - Copepods to blame?
Dear all, I'm hoping that some members of the forum might have insights into a problem that I've had develop with one of my two three gallon shrimp ecosystems. I have had ~40 shrimp in each tank for about 18 months, with the shrimp in each tank accompanied by 3-4 hermit crabs and 8-10 snails. I have...
