Random Shrimp Loss?

I have a new 2 gallon set-up for shrimp on my desk. I washed all the items and waited until there was biofilm at the top. I check for ammonia and other toxins prior to adding the shrimp. Everything looked good the first few days - shrimp were swimming and moving about a lot. Then the other day I fou...

Kval1015 - with 16 shrimp you should have both sexes ..... I only had six shrimp and I am thinking that is why I never had babies. However, I also did not have any hiding spaces for them. I added a lava rock in June 2020 and then decided to upgrade to a bigger tank a few months later. I also added ...

Re: 3 Years - No Berried Shrimp - Any Suggestions?

Thank you both for your recos! Do you have any recommendation of spirulina or food that I can supplement them with? I actually I have never fed them in this tank. I did purchase some more rocks off the site this past week, and one of the smaller round moss balls instead of the macroalgae. I was worr...

This is giving me hope!!!!

I have had a small 1 gallon jar for 3 years now and no berried shrimp yet.
I'm thinking of bumping up the size to something larger! I have about 16 shrimp and so much algae but have never had any babies.

3 Years - No Berried Shrimp - Any Suggestions?

Hi All ! So I have about 12-16 shrimp in a 1 gallon container with 2 lava rocks. It's pretty boring in there, and I'm wondering if that is maybe impacting why I haven't seen any berried shrimp. Shrimp are all very red and seem very happy! I have had this set-up for about 3 years now. I am not supple...

Re: Minimum aquarium size for breeding Opae Ula

I have a half gallon tank with 16 shrimp. I haven't seen any breeding yet, but I did move from New York to Michigan with them in the car about 6 months ago. They are super red and seem pretty happy, so I'm hoping I will see some breeding this year. I've attached a photo. I'm considering adding an ad...

This looks awesome! I have a 1/2 gallon tank myself right now and am considering upgrading.
Where did you purchase your lava rocks from?

Re: Hiya, New here! Help me save this shrimp!

I have a small tank for my shrimp that sits on my office desk. It's a 1/2 gallon tank, I've attached a photo. There are 16 shrimp in this tank and they seem to be doing fine with the space. I will say, whatever size you do plan on getting, make sure that there is a full coverage lid. I had an aquari...

Re: Happy Shrimp...I think?

Would you say it's a good sign that they are all bright red in color? Is that an indication that their conditions are good? I haven't seen any molts since the move. I removed all the fake plants I had in there after the move so it's pretty bare bones in terms of decorations; I just have 2 lava rocks...

Happy Shrimp...I think?

Hi All - I posted back in July about our move from NY to Michigan. All shrimp and habitats made it safely through the drive. They seem to be pretty settled into their new Midwest home, however I haven't seen any molting occurring since the move. All the shrimp are extremely bright red in color, whic...

Re: Upcoming Move - 1 Week - 9 Hour Drive

HI ALL - UPDATE! Move went well! I removed all the decor (glass marbles, lava rocks and plastic plants). With the decor removed, the water level dropped quite a bit. I purchased silicone stretch lids off Amazon and placed that around the top of the jar and put the lid over the top. We drove 10 hours...

Upcoming Move - 1 Week - 9 Hour Drive

Hello! We have an upcoming move next week from NY --> MI and I am looking for the best way to safely transport my Supershrimp. I have about 16 of them with 10 snails in a small 1/2 gallon tank that sits on my desk (Photo attached). There are some items in my tank that I could see having a bit of mov...

Re: Floating Molts & Lots of Green Algae

Yes I totally agree. The larger tank did not have a completely enclosed lid that was flush and I'm pretty sure some sort of aerosol (Pledge or Air Freshener) made it's way into the water through the little hole on top. The smaller tank that I have now is an apothecary jar with a lid that is flush, n...
