Re: I have coarse sand on bottom but don't see babies ever

My tank is over a year old and I never fed them. I have ample algae. I had sheets of it! When I had gotten some Florida brackish snail, name reminds me of Virginia. It brought the strange algae. It seemed edible because it disappeared from the rocks and the shrimp ate off the snails. The snails ate ...

Re: I have coarse sand on bottom but don't see babies ever

Here are pictures. My shrimp have been swimming around crazily for the past 2 days. I found 2 berried shrimp. Unfortunately, one had died last night. I put her into a dish for a better picture. Many of her eggs fell off. Round red things. I got a picture of one alive one too. My water has become clo...

I have coarse sand on bottom but don't see babies ever

I have had a berried female almost every few months but never see any small anything. When I got my snails it brought some type of algae that covers the bottom if my tank now. Do you think the little ones are in there? I only see about 11-12 shrimp at a time. I had 21. If the babies survived shouldn...

Re: Orange Supershrimp breeding project -- finally!

I have pure white shrimp in my tank. Is that the color you are saying? They tend to come out in the evening. Also I have some nearly black shrimp in my tank. At first I had one put now I have several. I took a picture of one who was sitting still for a moment.

Re: New Tank, Some Questions

My entamologist husband said that there are types of mosquitoes lay the eggs above the water line instead of in rafts. When you top the tank it hits the eggs. On the East Coast there are several types of mosquitoes that can survive in brackish conditions as well as fresh. I have a small airstone in ...

Re: New Tank,

I was having mosquitoes in my tank too! I used a gravy baster to get about 10 of the mosquitoes out over the past week. I agree yuck! I was careful not to get my baby shrimp floating around.

Re: ...Are my shrimp happy?

I had bought a nerite zebra snail with a parasite like you are describing. It let lose & I suck it up in a gravy baster. It looked like a protozoa. The snail moved more & seemed quite happy afterwards. (He didn't like the brackish environment. He moved to my fresh water tank.) I do have the ...
