Still haven't fed them anything at all!

Re: Ecosphere Empathy

Sad news my friends. I seem to have lost most of my shrimp over the last few months. I can only count 6 shrimp and 2 snails left in the tank. I don’t know how I lost the rest of the shrimp. I never saw any in distress or any bodies. The tank has been covered and I haven’t been feeding. Last weekend...

Re: Simply try out another tank

My definition of Food Heaven is dirty tank. The algae started growing 3 days ago when I saw dots dots dots on the glass wall and they were busy picking on it. Its 11am, they will only swim lap around 3 to 4pm onwards. https://i.imgur.com/NPe5PWU.mp4 Below is my old tank. Yes I supposed mine were the...

Re: How to clean up macroalgae?

What I do with my huge green furrball was..... because they were in 1 lump and I know I will kill some babies in there so... to minimise the killing, both of my hands go in and start pulling off bit by bit. With each pull I'm hoping some babies gets to swim off from there before I took the small bit...

Re: Finally!

I'd say full term 30 days when you witness her eggs lowered to her swimmerets 1st day, otherwise its a hit or miss by 1 or 2 days not much. I don't think the temperature effecting the berried that much but it does effect their colors. Mine usually a bit pale when it's 82 degree but they turn to redd...

Re: Finally!

Sep 1 (Day 43)-Well we have three floaters this morning! The original little guy (who is a lot bigger, relatively speaking) and two new ones. I wonder if these two are from the original female with the many eggs that we first saw 43 days ago or if there was another female that I never saw. Whicheve...

Re: Finally!

MrsT I did the flashlight trick last night and the only baby to show up was the floater. It was amazing, I would shine the light at one part of the tank and within a minute that little guy would show up and go right to the light like it was a magnet. Then I would shine it somewhere else and within ...

Re: Finally!

MrsT thank you very much for the suggestion. I will definitely try it tonight and see if anyone shows up. :D I am glad you responded because I thought they ALL floated after they were released from the mother. On another note I just looked in on the shrimp and there are two molts and lots of shrimp...

Re: Finally!

:smt006 try close all light, use torch light beam it at the side tank. Observe properly for any small particle movement.
From my opae, not all eggs will float, some will just stay at the bottom but they just really loves going towards light. Try it and let us know.

Re: Ecosphere Empathy

Brown algae only happens to me when the tank is new, it will go away after sometimes besides Opae do eat brown algae and my nerite snail loves eating it. When shrimp swimming around observe if there's poop coming out from them. It takes a long staring at them to be able to see it but it's worth it b...

Re: Simply try out another tank

Maybe it's something to do with how the light hits that faceted glass at that time of day. They might think they're actually getting somewhere. :D You should have some friends over and place bets on which one can do the fastest lap . Ahh... Interesting theory, that's probably it, they thought...

Re: My Progress

The odds of me seeing babies seem to be diminishing. The 2 who had a lot of eggs now only have 4 or 5 each. The red one still has her single one though. I had failure a number of times before those female get it right. You will get there one day don't worry, they just need time to learn and adjust....

Re: Simply try out another tank

Hello everyone I must post this right now because I was overwhelm for few days now about their changing into new jar. The first day I thought well they will settle down. They doesn't seemed like doing their ritual dance but then I realize they did something which I have never seen before. They have ...
