reconstitution of RO
I added R/O Right to my mix. I happen to want algae, so I'm glad it does that. That is why I have algae eating shimp, or visa versa. This combo is working fine with Riccia. I don't use CO2 injection, just an air bubbler. I try to support some monia and copepods in the tank. Do you know what plants a...

Nitrite
Use the search feature for nitrite for details, but if you can measure it, you have too much.

red Cherry
I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you worried about inbreeding with too few shimp that are from the same parents, or is this a question out interbreeding between shrimp varieties? Interbreeding is covered in several posts and in the Shrimp Variety section in some cases. In general, keep members ...

Baby Ghosts
I've actually got a picture if I can ever figure out how to upload. Can you do movies? If so how? These guys are too small for me to see clearly. They fload head down and have that distinctive hump back that ghosts have. Lets hope that what is growing in my tanks is enough. I have 2 more females wit...

sick amanos
Mine did the same thing until they got used to the tank. Now they are quite bold, so just giver them some time. Amanos are pretty hearty shrimp. How often they molt depends on how fast they are growing, and how much they eat, and a lot of other things. Mine turn white on the inside before they molt....

Baby Ghosts!
Some of the ghost shrimp eggs have hatched! They don't look like plankton to me, but they do swim oddly. They are free swimming, look just like the adult shrimp, but the are tail hangers and seem to be floating head down. I could have missed a stage, but this is definitely a baby ghost shrimp! Looks...

Got Eggs!
Finally I have a female RCH loaded with eggs on her swimmerlets! I have 2 more that have good saddles. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will hold the eggs until they hatch. I have plenty of males, so fertilization should be no problem.
I'll keep everyone posted.

Indian Zebra Shrimp
There are pictures at Frank's Aquarium that look just like mine. I've seen other photos on the web that look like what you describe. Maybe there are a few varieties?

Shrimp need cycled water and should not go into a brand new aquarium. Other fish should live in there for several weeks before the shrimp go in, or snails for several weeks at a minimum. Check this link: http://badmanstropicalfish.com/articles/article14.html Did you use conditioned water or tap wate...

False Tigers
The "tiger shrimp" actually were zebra shrimp afer all. They are Indian Zebra Shrimp. Now that they are getting acclimated the color is really pretty striking. Being a gemstone enthusiast the only color that fits is padparadscha. This is a pink-orange translucent color that defies descript...

Growing Hair Algae
Set up a separate 10 gallon aquarium and get a couple of mid-sized feeder goldfish and a few pind snails. Feed the fish a bunch. Use an undergravel filter. You can put a few thengs in there that are easy to remove for the algae to grow on that you can easily move over to the shrimp tank. Get a hood ...

'ghost' shrimp... er... 'amano' shrimp?
My ghosts never have any color. and they are not a very attractive shrimp. Good thing they are nearly transparent. They are about 2 times as big as a fully grown amano. If you got colored shrimp cheap count yourself lucky.
Take a picture & post it. Someone here can probably ID it.
