First time I tried to look up info on bamboo shrimp on yahoo, came up with recipes for the first entry.
Tempted to try raising them in my 60 gal.
If they're a problem in rice paddies, then outdoor pond may be way to go instead.

thought I'd need to order more cajuns, but....

I had suffered a couple of deaths early on to an unexpected nitrate spike and I hadn't seen any eggs, so thought I'd ended up with 3 of the same sex. This morning, noticed a few babies alongside the adults grazing away :D. All I can think is the adult female stayed hidden away once she was carrying ...

Depending on the type of snail, their eggs are usually clumped together in a mass of clear jelly. With pond snails, the entire jelly mass may easily be the size of the snails.

Sorry taking so long to respond back. Had to go shopping for test kit, since misplaced last one. Nitrate reading showed 40ppm and nitrite almost undetectable. The extra water changes seem to be helping, in that they're starting to recover motor control in their legs. I guess a wait and see, and keep...

moulting problems in dwarfs?

Have 2 crays in last two days now laying side in tank. They're still alive and occasionally start trying to swim. Remaining 3 are calmly grazing with no obvious signs of stress. No idea on how to help them, assuming they are having trouble moulting. Any suggestions?

Description of area may help

Was it a stream, lake or a pool? Is it an area subject to flooding from storms-diven waves? Could they be washed in from elsewhere or sea waves providing just enough brackish conditions?

The gravel color matched the shrimp color

The shrimp are almost literally invisible unless moving. Using a darker or lighter shade of gravel would make them easier to see. This is another reason I'm not sure of the exact count of shrimp in the tank. When very active, they can easily move from one end of tank to the other without me noticing...

my initial setup for red cherries and wild snowballs

Thought I'd take advantage of my sister being a professional photographer and try to share some photos of my first shrimp setup. 10G aquarium for each species. I feed a shrimp pellet every 2-3 days, rest of the time they graze the java moss and filters. For water, I use tap from a PUR water filter o...

if the frogs are hungry enough.....

They will even try to eat what they can't possibly swallow.

How small are your frogs that you wouldn't think they'd eat the shrimp?
When I've had them in tank with guppies, they would eat all but the full grown female fish, but no for want of trying.

only had ich outbreak once

Involving my guppies. Basically the higher the temperature, the less time the ich has to find a host to attach to before dying. For my tank, I slowly raised the temp over 3-4 days to the low or mid 80's and increased aeration with extra airstones. Ich was gone in less than two weeks. If you do the t...

if using aquarium heaters, let adjust before plugging in

made mistake once of putting in heater, then immediately plugging it in instead of waiting 15 minutes. cracked about as fast a burnt out lightbulb.
and nowhere near the temp difference as you're dealing with.
