What kind of pleco?

I keep (2) L-046 zebra plecos and a L-183 starlight bristlenose and they (plecos) leave the shrimps and shrimplets alone.

Both my low tech planted tanks have shrimps. It's just I'm seeing a minute case of hair algae on some leaves. From what I understand, this could be due to excessive silicates.

Is aluminum dangerous to shrimp?

I'm looking into Phosphate/Silicate removers and I'm looking at either Ferrous Oxide Phosphate Removers (Two Little Fishies PhosBan, ROWAphos, Hagen Fluval Lab Series Phosphate Remover, Warner Marine Research ReefPure PHOSaR HC , Dr. Foster & Smith PhosPure, & Magnavore Pura Phoslock) or Alu...

Guppies are more opportunistic. I had molly and swordtail fry in my shrimp tanks. Even though the fry were about the size of the adult shrimps, they (fry) had no problems eating away at dead shrimp. The shrimp population in that tank barely grew and I never saw any baby shrimps. The safest shrimps w...

Well, my RCS eat whatever I toss in there, which is actually meant for the L-046 zebra plecos and L-183 starlight brisstlenose pleco. Here's what I feed my fish, which the shrimps love as well. - FBW (frozen bloodworms) - Frozen Mysis shrimp - Beefheart mix (beefheart, shrimp, garlic, and other unkn...

Most adult species, like Neocaridina, are safe with the above list. It's just the shrimplets/babies will probably get eaten by the rams or loaches.

Most dechlorinators, like Stress Coat bind with the chlorine. It also binds with the chlorine contained in the chloramine. Unfortunately, one of the bi-products is ammonia (chloramine - chlorine = ammonia). Other products, like Prime, also bind with the ammonia, still making it available for plants ...

Sorry for your loss. I'm surprised your switching from FW to SW. It may cost you more to switch over due to equipment. It's best to use RO/DI water for salt, due to the possibility of algae problems when using tap water.

If you mean purify as in sterilize it, then yes.

The only problem with a water fall setup (from one tank to another) is that the lowest tank would probably have the highest concentration of metals, nitrates, etc.

If the disease is due to parasites or bacteria, then yes. If you are considering of buying a UV, you need to allow enough dwell time (time the water passes through UV light) in order for it to work properly. UV's have a recommended GPH flow rate. For example, a 9 watt UV may have recommended flow ra...

Never seen that before either. Maybe put some amanos or cherry in the tank. They may just piggy back off the bamboo and help clean it. I think that might make things worse. Amanos and Cherries are not big string algae eaters, and bamboos don't like to be touched. I kept bamboos and amanos together ...
