This thread is officially closed. When people feel like they need to post their personal rants (such as "Gnome" aka Naomi) in a Tiger Shrimp thread publicly, then the thread has lived out its life. And of course anyone is free to register or leave. Some people can take the truth straight i...

ok, so i'm wrong. i can admit when i'm wrong. I don't have a problem with that, just pointing out the facts. :) Everyone can be wrong. We all learn by being wrong first. The problem comes in when people disseminate information that is clearly wrong or information that they are not sure about and st...

Listen "retardo", I suggest you stop screaming for no reason and think about everything you are saying in a logical fashion. If you cannot take a little bit of questioning of your opinion to find out what your opinion is based on, then you are definitely at the wrong place. If you had done...

how is your tank set up? if u have java moss and/or riccia in there, the baby ghost shrimp should be able to forage for food on their own. with enuff lighting and good water conditions, micro algae should form on the surfaces of your tank and any decorations, plants, etc. this should be a good sour...

Of course it doesn't look sick to you. That's why *I* put up this website and put all the info about shrimp in it and not *you.* :-D Before I told people how sick shrimp looked like they thought that their sick shrimp were color variations. Before I told people where shrimp have their ovaries, they ...

They have various tiger color variations, namely Blue Tiger, Red Tiger, Big tiger, Small Tiger, crazy tiger( just kidding )....I guess they basically make up the names up as they go along :-D I will be in Asia soon...

Congratulations, but you don't have a "Red Tiger Shrimp." Again, the milky coloration and the reddish stripes indicate that your tiger shrimp is sick/stressed out. Shrimp change coloration when they are sick. It might recover, it might not but as it looks she will release her young very so...

I actually do not have all that many crevices. My shrimp hide behind the box filter and also under the box filter...also...they squeeze themselves under some algae mats that are growing on the gravel. That's really all they have. My salinity fluctuates, too, somewhere between 14-18ppt. As for A. bis...

OK, anyone know what exactly we have now that we all know it's NOT Alpheus cyanoteles ? No idea what you have. From what I can tell it's definitely *not* a Macrobrachium. There is still a chance that it might be an Alpheid shrimp, but that would be quite unusual since the Amazon in Peru is thousand...

Florian, You misunderstood everything we said. We're not talking about bumblebee-crystal red hybrids. We're talking about bee shrimp-crystal red crosses, which are all the same species. In case you had some problems with the english common names: bumblebee shrimp = Hummelgarnele bee shrimp = Bieneng...

Hi Frank, My females were hidden all day long and I never saw them during the day. I could only see them when the lights were off and the shrimp would come out foraging all over the tank. But even then you would see them only for a couple of seconds. Seasonal breeders or not...we'll see about that t...

Alright...here is another update....unfortunately, the two females dropped most of their eggs after I overdosed on a dechlorinator and had to do an impromtu water change. :( So...I'll wait for the next ovigerous females to pop up. My setup is pretty simple. First my shrimp (about 30-35) were in a 10...

Thanks for the more detailed explanation, Janis. :) I kept it more simple on purpose not knowing how much people understand about simple Mendelian Genetics. :) Thanks for being more specific, though. I think in this case it was the better choice. I should have an article about this in the "Arti...

Yes, there is a problem. It takes several generations for the reds to disappear. The red coloration is recessive. It's really just simple genetics. Black crossed with red does *not* produce "blackred." The first generation will be all black. However, all the black shrimp will be split for ...
