Re: Concerns
UPDATE - i have noticed one or two small white insect like creatures on the glass of my tank. They are not the white specks but they are much much smaller and visibly move around. Could these be copepods? Or is it a nasty parasite? I am getting more and more concerned for my tank

Concerns
I have noticed some white specks in my tank recently and I have seen a similar post but i don't know if we have the same problem. If anyone can tell me what this is and why I have it or if it is potentially harmful, PLEASE let me know. I noticed it on one of my lava rocks and in some nooks and crann...

New plant and snails :)
I have successfully acclimated and started breeding these snails and plant from one of my other tanks. They seem to be very healthy.
Here is the plant... Not sure what species it is.

Re: My new Opae Ula tank
When you say you noticed baby snails... Are these snails breed in your tank? Because if so you may have a snail epidemic on your hands.

Re: The lure of the wild shrimp...resist!!
After doing some more research on the website I purchased my Opae Ula from I can say for sure they are from the wild. Nobody purchase them from here [Admin: deleted link] I am truly disgusted and upset that I did not read on the front page "We farm our Opae Ula in the wild in private ponds in E...

Re: The lure of the wild shrimp...resist!!
Almost all people who claim to be "breeding" these shrimp are simply lying. Especially anyone sending these shrimp out from the state of Hawaii *for sure* is selling wild-caught shrimp...usually caught illegally, no matter what they claim. Ask them to send you a time stamped picture of la...

Trust me, the more they move things around it will make their environment even more perfect. They will make changes that they feel are suitable and beneficial

Re: My new Opae Ula tank
They look like trumpet snails maybe. Andy I guarantee your Opae Ula will probably move that sand around and mix it with the black substrate because the shrimp love to sift through the sand and move things around.

They do look very similar to Tarebia graniferaHarry wrote:They are trapdoor snails and they look like Tarebia granifera. They seem too dark to be Malaysian Trumpet Snails.

Integrating a new snail species?
