It's really a tragic story. . . . . moments after he discovered the world's largest Macrobrachium species, he was eaten by it. I heard from him about 2 weeks ago. I'm sure he is just busy, and we've all been playing so nicely here lately that he just hasn't had to come in here and set us str...

The bumblebees are ready to go. I have 150 to choose from. lol I was thinking about getting 10-15 of them. Not sure though. What do you think? I agree that you should get as many as you reasonably can. If it were me, I would buy enough so that I would still have a solid breeding colony even if I lo...

Your local water company should be able to provide you with a detailed annual water quality report. They are REQUIRED to make this available to the public. Many will even have it on their website. That report combined with your own testing can help you to decide what you need to do. You can also sen...

I have noticed that the post office has become so very good at moving priority mail packages that perhaps the old idea of shipping only on Mondays may be a thing of the past. . . .everything I have received in the past year has arrived in 2 days no matter where it was sent from. Glad your crays arri...

For the first few months, I had lots of pregnant females, but the majority of them dropped their eggs or only carried a few through to completion. However, I have now adjusted my strategy for isolating the females. I am still moving them into the floating guppy breeder units, but I now put in a sand...

I know you want to think it will work, but the important part of keeping shrimp is creating a sustainable breeding colony. Quite simply, any fish capable of eating anything larger than the smallest piece of flake food you can see can and will eat shrimp babies if not young or adult shrimp. You may b...

Any fish that will eat the mosquito larvae will likely eat baby shrimp if not your adults. I would not place a fish in the tank.

Use rubber bands to attach the java fern roots to the rock/driftwood. By the time the rubberband degrades and falls off, the plant will firmly attach itself.

I would doubt it has anything to do with the water conditoner you are using, but Prime is good stuff and very economical because it is so concentrated.

Wouldn't you need a more controlled experiment to really determine how long it takes? Temperature might influence how much time it takes to develop, there could be other things involved as well. -Pedro Temperature is certainly one of the main variables that affect the development time. I am keeping...

They should be just fine with the RCS too. I tossed a couple young male RCS into my C. diminutus tank to see if they would co-exist. The two RCS are still there after 3 months.

How are the diminutus doing? Are you overrun with little ones yet? The diminutus are doing well and are beginning to breed again after taking about 6 weeks off. . . But I can't say that I am over-run with babies (yet). I can also comment that the diminutus are brutal when mating. Most of my females...
