Hi Chris, sorry to hear of your loss. :( I agree with Jonathan, to my knowledge, there's no reason why a lack of artificial light would kill your shrimp. I would check for other factors which could include, it was just his/her time to go. -GunmetalBlue Edit: I did find a post: http://www.petshrimp.c...

Thank you Veneer and Mustafa for your replies. So my shrimp are definitely not P. Paludosus then. Mustafa, so I gather even if I were to say I'm 99.9% sure the Macrobrachium lanchesteri shown here http://www.wirbellose.de/arten.cgi?action=show&artNo=003 are the spitting image of my shrimp, witho...

"Hi," Thanks, and P. Paludosis or Macrobrachium?

Hi everyone, I've been "lurking" here awhile, trawling through old threads and doing catch-up reading from this informative site. I've only recently been bitten by the shrimp bug, so won't be able to add much; maybe an occasional question or personal observation. I have two "*Ghost?&q...

Wow, I didn't realize this was going to come about so quickly! I should have reminded you about transferring some of the old material from the old tank to the new, using water conditioner, checking temperature, etc. Hopefully you already knew some of that stuff. I did have to set up an emergency &qu...

Hi Pi, not filtering yet? Not to upset you but that's probably not good :( I 'm certain a lot of it has to do with the small size of your tank and am guessing there's not much current in there. I read one source that said Bamboo need at least 5 gallons per, in terms of stocking, but should live in a...

Hi Pi and welcome to the forum! I'm new at keeping Bamboo shrimp too, so would welcome more information and any correction. Since you asked, so far I've been juggling between flake, freeze dried shrimp and freeze dried blood worms, crushed, then stirred into the water (to keep it from floating; othe...
