Re: ID Help Please

Unfortunately, this is the only one. The other two died within about a week. I am keeping my eyes peeled for other ones though.

Cycolps

I have cyclops!! I noticed them today while searching for shrimplets that were released last night. I saw them zooming around one of plants. I am very excited. I did find some the shrimplets too, very happy day!

I have found that whenever I have an ammonia rise a Nitrite rise is on the way. If you have not had one yet, you probably will soon.

Re: Sick RCS?! Help!

If the ammonia is on the rise, a ten percent water change will be pretty ineffective. I would recommend using filter media from another tank to help seed and boost the development of your nitrifying bacteria along with water changes. Keep a very close eye on the ammonia levels your nitrIte levels ma...

Good point. Be sure to feed small amounts, feed with reason.

Re: feeding cherry red shrimp

I have fed with freeze dried brine shrimp and my "ghost" shrimp take to it quite a bit more than my cherries do. My cherries zoom around when I feed with it, but they usually congregate in areas where some have fallen to the sand.

ID Help Please

I know there are a million ID posts, but I think I have exhausted my resources. I used the search function and I also did research on the internet outside of this site. Here is my mystery shrimp. I bought it with some ghost shrimp three months ago. I picked this one and two others out of the lot bec...

These questions have been answered many times on the forum. Feel free to use the search option to find what you are looking for. I would recommend you read over the rules, those who frequently break the forum rules get banned. Good luck.

Re: brown leaves for shrimp

Semantics. Rotten leaves implies that the leaves are rotting. Fallen brown leaves do not rot right away especially oak leaves that so many use, it takes oak leaves years to rot in nature. You are incorrect about this entire response. Until you have tried it, do not make things up just because you t...

Re: brown leaves for shrimp

Rotting leaves? Rotting leaves, like excessive waste can and most likely will produce ammonia and nitrite spikes. I understand that many people use other leaves that have been dried or have fallen off of certain trees, but I am not sure I have read that people actually put rotting leaves into a tank...

Re: brown leaves for shrimp

You do not want to put rotting leaves from another tank into this one, the reasoning should be straight forward. If you wanted to add some of the plants from your other tank that would be a good idea. Especially good would be some mosses (java, christmas, willow, etc.). My shrimps also love Marimo B...
