Re: Rebirth of the Invert Room

The First thing you will need for a proper Invert Room is, A nice Chair w/ wheels for hours of enjoying your tanks. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f45/newshrimpjohn/Invert%20Room%202012/000_1009.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f45/newshrimpjohn/Invert%20Room%202012/000_1010.jpg http://i44.p...

Re: Macrobrachium sp. "Red Claw" with eggs

I can't see why the males would be so nasty in this situation.
I keep all of my Shrimp @ 74 -76.
The Higher end of their Temp. Range may be aiding in the Aggression.

Re: Rebirth of the Invert Room

Very cool stuff NewJohn. Thanks for the kind words demonte1997. This is the direction I'd like to go in the next couple years. You will not regret it. Less time to complete maintenance leaves more time to watch your Shrimp. Maintaining the few invert tanks I have now is tanking a toll Are your Tank...

Pumpkin Shrimp

Pumpkin / Orange / Orange Mandarin Shrimp ?

Are these a newer Color Morph / Selectively Bred ?

I have been out of the loop for awhile,
If you can dye a Shrimp Blue, Orange is not out of the question.

Re: Pearl Shrimp

but I don't think there are captive-bred colonies in the North American hobby...
That is a shame,
Their Behavior is interesting to observe and they have a different Body Shape compared to other Macros.

Re: Rebirth of the Invert Room

We need more serious people in this hobby.
You say " Serious ",
My Wife uses other words to describe my Hobby.

Not to worry,
I will be updating with pictures as the project progresses.

Hemimysis anomala, Freshwater Mysis

I am jealous, all I can collect locally is Black/Brown Crayfish. John Actually, that's not true. ;) You have access to Lake Michigan where a very interesting species of freshwater Mysis now lives. The species is called Hemimysis anomala and has been accidentally introduced from the Caspian sea. The...

Re: My Malawa Colony - 2010 Update

Unfortunately, a lack of updates usually means the colony is gone.
That would be a shame.
It seems like there are not enough of Hobbyist keeping the " Wild Type " Shrimp anymore.

Re: Deep blue Aegla

Mustafa
Thanks for the Link.
It almost looks like the BLUE was painted on.

That Aegla should be in someones tank.
With that coloration, you would think that a predator would have had him for lunch.

Re: Macrobrachium sp. "Red Claw" with eggs

Sorry to hear the Bad News.
When I Red Claws, I never had a problem with aggressive Males.
I had a small group of 3 Males & 4 Females.

Are they getting enough to eat ?
What size tank are they housed in ?

Rebirth of the Invert Room

It has been awhile and I am glad to be back. My Invert Room was taken down a few years ago and I glad to say that it is being put back together. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f45/newshrimpjohn/Invert%20Room%202012/InvertRoom2-612012.jpg All tanks will be Drilled for Overflows, No more trips to t...
