I had some last year, but their markings were more on the green side.

Just like bamboo shrimps but a little smaller, easy enough to keep. Rather shy I seem to remember too.

Septaria eggs

Hi everyone, I thought I would share this. http://www.waysideaquatics.co.uk/septariaeggs.JPG All of a sudden my Septaria are laying eggs on mass. These are from only two adults over the last couple of weeks. Seems a terrible shame that they are impossible to raise. I think these are possibly the bes...

Hi, I have these in some of my tanks, they are quite happy in totally fresh water. They should be ok in any hard water with an alkaline Ph. Sadly they are not breedable in aquaria. Most aquaria with good lighting will support a few of these without special feeding. They are wonderful algae eaters.

I only collected them yesterday, but so far the majority have stayed pretty much where the landed. They spent the first half hour or so twisting about in all directions, but only a few wandered off. Even in a sand substrate they don't seem to want to burry themselves. Most are just sitting as the on...

Orb-shells (sphaerium corneum)

Has anyone ever tried these in aquaria?

They seem to survive in very small still ponds of only 2-3 gallons, so was wondering if they are suitable.

Hi Neonshrimp, I wouldn't say they were anything special size wise. The tank is a very heavily planted one, and they pretty much had to scavenge for a living. There were a very large number of emperor tetra's in with them that bred like flies. Subsequently the shrimps never really got a look in at f...

I put 20 in our show tank at work in 2001, and its only recently that the last ones have died off. So I would say that in stable conditions, five to six years is is about right. Out of interest ,the last ones to go were all males by some distance. On a slightly different note, has anyone else notice...

Yes, it looks great thanks :D . Did you do something different?
No not really, just did the link again, but this time using the img button rather than doing it by hand. It seemed to work fine both ways to me using the preview button.

These sure do breed well........mine are by far the fastest and most prolific breeders I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The pic is of one of my best females with a nice yellow stripe down her back. I'm just about to separate her to see if she passes on this yellow trait. Fingers crossed. http:/...

Green shrimp Caridina cf. babaulti and eyes

I've been looking at various pictures of these, but can't tell what their eye colour is. Many look bright green, but this is probably just the camera flash. Is it unusual for them to actually have bright green eyes? ( much the same colour as their developing eggs ) The reason I ask is that my Green ...

So get cranking on these shrimp and build up that population! We need to work on establishing pretty much every shrimp species that gets imported in the hobby as you never when they will get imported again or if they will even survive in nature. Many of these species are rare in their biotop...
