how 'bout that. i didn't realize there would be so many close together.

see, i figured there were some farms, i just couldn't imagine that in a group of 20 crays presumably from the same supplier that i would see something like 6 species. there were a lot of different body shapes, head shapes, arm shapes, tail shapes, colors, etc.. they didn't show any agression in that...

so, what are you thinking then, baited traps?

i was at a certain LFS recently that i don't typically go to, but i had 15 minutes to kill, and they sell "feeder" crayfish. i stopped to take a look at what they had and there were at least 6 different species in the tank. don't ask me what they were, but i could tell they were different....

why? you got pictures and a latin name. i'm thinking about getting it just for that.

is that bad? i thought if i wasn't selling it he didn't care. i thougth for sure i saw him reply like that in another post. i'll got back and edit it out anyway though. i can't edit the one in your quote though....

well, i am either blind or they were hiding behind the sponge filter, because the larvea showed up again today. i suppose the copepods aren't a problem after all.

i don't think they will be tankmates so much as dietary suppliments.

ok, so this was pretty cool, but i was wondering what the taxonomists use to distinguish different genera? does anyone know of a guide? i would like to be able to look at an undescribed caridina and just be able to tell that is what it is, and not something else.

So my rainbow shrimp released last week and I removed some into 2 separate containers and left some behind in with the adults. both groups i removed seem to be gone now and the ones with the adults are mostly gone now. i was assuming most of the predation would come from the adults, but now i wonder...
