Re: Killer Amano shrimp...
dude must be nuts. how's a shrimp supposed to be able to catch a cardinal tetra, much less hold it down long enough to kill it? sounds to me like the guy screwed something up and made up a story to cover it.

Re: do you have Shrimp Madness?
i have to agree, this hobby is nuts. i got my first group of cherry shrimp 3 years ago and now i have 8 species of shrimp and 2 species of crays. too bad they are so hard to find around here. Not so hard that you couldn't find 8 species of shrimp and 2 of crays :-D yeah, well that was a lot of work...

Re: Halocaridina rubra
Great information. Maybe this is how the mating process workds in their natural habitat. thanks, pal. I think, perhaps more than anything, it just replicates their natural environment better and makes them feel secure enough to start breeding. perhaps then if you are trying to optimize this effect,...

Re: Halocaridina rubra
that's good to know. i contacted our local saltwater wholesaler and got them interested when they found out people use the to feed seahorses. i think they are going to try and get me some without it costing a ton.

Re: Halocaridina rubra
how about 100 of them to start with? sounds like a cycling nightmare!
yeah, i didn't figure to leave them in that thing. so i was just curious if i could get both sexes out of one of those setups and put them in a 10-20 gallon to colonize.

Halocaridina rubra
ok, so i keep seeing these self sustaining eco thinga-ma-bobs and they say there are 4-5 Halocaridina rubra in them. the price isn't too bad so i was thinking maybe i could get a couple and cut them open to get the shrimp out. what do you suppose the odds of me getting both sexes from that would be?...

Re: My New Dwarf Crays
here are some pics of my mystery contaminant. i didn't disturb the little guys too much, but i could see 4-5 of them and minus this one, there were 6 of the others. it would appear she isn't too aggressive.

Re: Blue Alleni has berried!
no, she came out of it fine. i saw them spawn twice (unless it was the other female) and when i took them out they were all in good shape. i passed on the breeders to a friend of mine, i figure 4 tanks of babies is plenty to keep me occupied for a long time. little snots are pretty bad about picking...
