Please post more information about the shrimp and your tank. Are the shrimp newly purchased/shipped additions to the tank? Was your tank cycled and how? That is a bad sign when the shrimp are lathargic and not scavaging as usual :(

Well if the shrimp seem to be doing well otherwise and the tank is clean and cycled you won't need to worry much. But if the shrimp stay near the surface of the water like they are trying to get out or if you see sick or dying shrimp then you know there is something wrong with the present conditions...

If this is a new tank you put them into then yes this is normal. Shrimp will swim around when they are not use to or don't like the water conditions.

I have experienced a slow die off in this tank and it baffles me to no end and my other tank with Cardinals is fine and the shrimp are healthy although none have berried as yet. The Dark Maroon Shrimp are proving very difficult with the adults and few of the young have survived, but some are growin...

Hi Bill, good to hear you got what you paid for :D I have a handful of these little guys also. Mine arrived as juveniles and I now have my first berried female. As adults they are still smaller than the other types of dwarf shrimp, I think almost 2 cm at full growth. I am keeping mine in soft acidic...
