That is truly neat! What were you feeding them to make all the Cherry shrimp zoom all over the place? Thanks for sharing the movie :D My Girlfriend and I had an excess of Algae Wafers so I put a bunch through the spice grinder as a treat for my Bamboo, the cherries love it too - especially the real...

I was playing with the camera today and didn't get any good photos, need to read more on the camera I guess... but I took a movie with it and it turned out ok. This is what happens when I feed my tank powdered algae wafers Ecir *still need to play around with the setting to get the quality up, but n...

Pulling up an old thread for clarification, I think MTS (Malaysian Trumpet Snails) are the best and they don't lay eggs. They also churn your gravel. I also keep pond snails and apple snails. They all work fine, but the apples need to be well fed or they will eat yourplants. I think they poop more t...

Ditto on the bristle nosed plec comment....mine are all big softies who bother no-one. My only worry with the bristlenose is that they would out-eat any shrimp in the tank, from what I've heard it only takes one Bristlenose to keep a 50g spotless of algae... different algae type prefference maybe? ...

Ok, I just came home from work and it seems this has been a busy topic. Let me clarify a bit: The leaves I used WERE dry and brownish, I soaked them overnight before they went into the tank and if they weren't oak leaves then the oak tree I got them from is confused :P . The oak leaves have been in ...

Oak leaves, super food or final alternative?

Lately there have been a lot of threads on leaf litter, particularly oak leaves. Who am I to swim against the current so I went out and got myself some leaves to experiment with. Tank 1: Well established 10 gallon, lots of algae and surface area for bacteria. Huge colony of Cherries with a few Amano...

In my tank I could never get any decent plants locally so I stocked up on plastic plants. Tacky? maybe, but the shrimp have tons of surface to climb on and the algae and micro-nutrients are in abundance as my population has literally exploded since I started up 6 months ago with only 14 Cherries. Ec...

i have a fish room of 50 tanks
Zapisto, do you happen to have any pics of your fish room? I'd love to see the setup on something so impressive! At my house we only have 13 tanks but they are spread throughout.

Hi John,

Another option is to look up sandblasting companies in your area, not sure how much you're paying for your play sand but we've been getting 50lbs bags of fine silica sand for 12$ a bag.

Just gonna throw this one out there but what if you have two females? Just because she's carrying eggs doesn't mean they're fertile, or do you think she would have dropped them by now?

I'm pretty sure it's the larvathat are photosensitive, keep the light on or they get stuck to the wall/bottom of the tank. Not a problem with adults.
