Crushed Coral

Hooray my crushed coral is here, exactly the size that I wanted. Its a little smaller than your average gravel and a little bigger than rice. Theres even a bunch of tiny mollusk shells. Neat.

Re: My 2 liter Opae Ula project(s)!

Awesome, thanks for the replies. No filter makes this potentially even sweeter. For substrate - My most current plan is Im going to try a bit of a fancy mix, with black lava rock as the main theme. First a thin tiny layer of black sand... then small amount of crushed coral (only in the middle, dont ...

Re: My 2 liter Opae Ula project(s)!

Hello HF. The filter is not needed. The light looks like over kill. The under water light looks interesting. What is the angle of the leds. 90-120 degs. Can they be dimmed? Crushed coral should be fine. The tanks look nice. I like that they have a cover. Ken Thanks for the response. Would using a f...

My 2 liter Opae Ula project(s)!

First off sorry for the long post. I added some pictures to try to make it interesting. I ran into a bunch of acrylic boxes that I think would make awesome nano Opae Ula homes. I have already started buying additional components, but some will not be here for at least a week. I actually went a litt...

Re: Need help to identify this shrimp

Yes, that should be more than enough - the most important thing is to provide some sort of a "perch" whether it be a plant leaf, driftwood, decoration etc. that is high enough for them to climb on top of to stand as close to being in the direct outflow as possible. Sometimes they will figh...

Re: Tetra and Fluval Cube aquarium filter safe for shrimp?

1 step further than pantyhose would be a foam prefilter. This would actually work pretty well with the Tetra LED cube. Not so much with the Fluval spec's. The Fluval spect's intake is a skimmer of sorts, sucking the water through a grate at the back/top of the unit. You could add a foam block(s) (mi...

Re: Need help to identify this shrimp

While its not exactly a perfect example to view from, definitely most likely "bamboo" or "Singapore" shrimp (Atyopsis moluccensis) They typically have a prominent white stripe down their back, but they also can change color quite a bit from near all white to bright red to nearly ...
