Yes at about 1 inch in size they will show their best blue. That is why some of the larger ones appear bluer. Some of these may stay ghost blue or ice blue also.

As promised here are my crappy pics. Not that you can tell from picture but these are 80-90% blue. The blue varies and is more intense on some. Most of these are 3/4 inch in size. They definately look better in person. Jason http://members.aol.com/fishworlderie/bluec1.jpg http://members.aol.com/fish...

Those cherax can take over a fish room in little time. Sometimes it is good to keep them (the parents seperated) that way they won't breed like rabbits. Good luck with the rest of your babies.

The blue on these vary alot. At bottom of his picture he wrote looks black but is actually midnight blue. Females darken especially when carrying.

That is a good size tank. The shrimp will usually hunt fish at night when the fish are laying near bottom. I am only using a 33 gallon long so there is not as much room. The bigger the better though. Good luck with your batch of future babies. :)

So what your saying is that it is 50x as hard to see it in person. :D
I have never noticed that but I guess I never looked for it either. Next time I roll one over I will look.

Your tank is very well planted. How long have you had the red claw. Mine breed at a pretty fast pace and would soon fill that tank and they would be pretty hard to get out. I use a 33 gallon long tank for mine but I keep only floating plants like hornwort in there. Pretty easy to move shrimp when I ...

Australian males do not have the gonopods or extra set of legs. The female will have her genital openings "little circles" on her third pair of walking legs. Males will not have anything I know of. These crays I am not sure at what size they are sexable but I would guess 2 1/2 inch. I have...

Just emptied another breeding tank. I pulled about 100 crays out of this tank. About 80-90% blue. Took some pics. I will post them soon. Crappy pics as usual

Yes they will have their gonopods or "extra set of legs". These crays are easy to sex. If you are having trouble try picking them up and look through a magnifier glass. No extra set of legs between their actual set means you have a girl cray.

About 1 inch in size to breed and you should be able to sex them at 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. You will have to physically pick them up and roll them over. Sexing them by looking through something is pretty hard. When they are mature males tend to have bigger longer claws and females tend to look heavie...
