What kind of substraight are you using?
If it's a light colour or white that could be a reason as to why the shrimp are pail.

Not realy, I have a bunch are they eat pelets and anything before they eat the algea. I think of them like corries.

Yes you did. I actually managed to catch my vampires mating. I had a feeling that they might since the female was on the opposite side of the tank than she usually stays.
