I bet they will be berried before long. Do you have any pictures of your new tank? :D

Re: Blue shrimp w/ GREEN ? on it

Thanks Bill, that is a relief. After I read some of the info I found it was kind of scary  and I sure didn't want to lose all of these guys.

What fun deciding what shrimp you would like to keep. :smt081 :smt081

Possibly:
Malaya
Sri Lanka
Indian Zebra
Snowball
Green Shrimp
Dark Green Shrimp (not sure about the water these like but they are really pretty)

I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of right now. :smt102

HOLLYWOOD wrote:Bill (Southerndesert) had pictures of this same green growth on one of his Sulawesi shrimp. There is a thread about this particular green growth. Best to isolate this shrimp.
Yikes  , I found the thread. Thanks for the heads up, HOLLYWOOD. I will isolate that shrimp.

Blue shrimp w/ GREEN ? on it

I found this shrimp tonight when I was feeding them. The shrimp is very active and was feeding as you would expect. I saw the thread earlier with a similar looking issue. I'm going to watch this one and see it the green stuff is lost when the shrimp molts.

Sri Lanka shrimp

I've seen around 2 dozen of the little Sri Lanka that I could count. The tank they live in is full of moss and they are pretty good at "fleeing" to safety anytime I try to look at them. Sometimes after lights are out I use a flashlight to try to see how many sets of shinning eyes I can see...

Re: Whte banded and Unidentified shrimp ?

Hey Pat, Yeah, it's *extremely* important to separate different varieties of shrimp. Otherwise we'll all end up with mutts. I even separate different imports of the *same* species of shrimp, just because they may be different local variations altogether. That is a very good point. I will keep tryin...

Re: Shrimp update

I hope that is the case here as I really enjoy these shrimp. I will post more when I can determine how many there are in this tank. It has lots of moss, so it's hard to tell and I stay out of the tank except to do maintenance and feed.

How are your Sri Lanka's doing?

Re: Whte banded and Unidentified shrimp ?

Hi Mustafa,

I now have 3 tanks with these shrimp in them to try and not have them mix anymore than they may have already done. I appreciate the information you provide. I am sorry to hear that your white banded colony didn't make it through the move.

Re: Shrimp update

Well, I lost my female sri lanka the other day. The good news though is I am starting to see small shrimp out and about, so maybe they will make it and get my colony of these guys going. They are in a tank all to themselves so I am hopeful. I just hate it that I have lost so many shrimp due to...

Re: Whte banded and Unidentified shrimp ?

Thanks for the guidance Mustafa. :D I had wondered about the ones that don't have a distinct band. I know it is very difficult to tell what all of them are just looking at pictures, but your efforts are appreciated. I am trying to get them separated into tanks with like shrimp. How are your white ba...

That's great that you are seeing babies. I hunt for them almost every day. The white headed bumblebees are really pretty.
