Re: Meet Stumpie, the toughest momma shrimp in my tanks!

You have to admit that shrimps' regeneration capabilities ranks up there as one of the most amazing things in nature. I think I can see that her missing legs are starting to grow out - is that how it happens, or is there a dramatic re-apperance of legs after molting? Would love to hear from those wi...

0) Did you search the forum? I mean REALLY search? Did you read the species page: http://www.petshrimp.com/redcherryshrimp.html ? Just checking. --------- > 1) how long does it take for a cherry shrimp to get matured? What are you meaning by "matured"... I am assuming you define that as &q...

Is this how the first red bees looked?

This shrimp came along with 12 "Bees" we bought at a local pet store. It has a very interesting "X" pattern on its head and more maroonish red.... and a very strikingly blue body. I wonder... Is this how the "first" red CRS' looked when the mutation first happened? Any ...

Meet Stumpie, the toughest momma shrimp in my tanks!

This is "Stumpie" - she lost four of her legs during a tank transfer... she's berried and just a trooper and keeps running around and eating. She is now our favorite CRS... we root for the underdogs around here!

Re: Malawa, Yellow shrimp

Mustafa: Wow! I'd love to get some of those from you when you are ready (2012?). I heard they can live for decades? Do you have more specific information on their gestation cycle? Its in a way sad to see them being sold elsewhere as food for seahorses. I mean... yeah... I understand seahorses have t...

Re: Malawa Shrimp - Photo Gallery and Blog

Good point! I should clarify, that for me it has been very easy. I'm using half R/O, half tap water (my tap water in my community is VERY hard... like gh of 16), temperature is around 72.... and I am very much over filtering their tank... and now... after just checking, I now have four more malawas ...

Re: Gammarus

I have scuds living in a tank that is being cycled... they apparently tracked in on some seasoned gravel I moved in to move the cycle along. Should have figured, eh? Well, as part of the cycling process I've had ammonia up to 8ppm, nitrates off the chart, and these guys keep chugging along. I consid...

So far these are easier to breed than Cherries, and more fun to watch. Even the shrimplets swim around like the adults, we're having a blast here watching them.

Re: Malawa Shrimp - Photo Gallery and Blog

I'm pretty sure I just spotted the first Malawa Shrimplets.

Could this really be possible when I first saw eggs January 12th?

Wow... if even an amateur like me can breed these, these should stay in the hobby for a long time. :)

Re: Infopimp's Gallery

A couple photos of (yet another) tank I am cycling - with some ADA rocks I picked out yesterday. These are Chinese Zebra rock if I recall correctly.

Then a couple updates on the shrimplets - I counted 12 yesterday... and only a week ago I would have sworn there were only 4.

Re: Infopimp's Gallery

Since my last update more than 10 shrimp have berried and there has been at least one shrimp who gave shrimplets

At most I've counted 8 CRS shrimplets at a time. Very fun trying to find them all...

Re: Positive ID of CRS Please

I keep them together in one of my tanks. Note that they do have different IDEAL water conditions.... but there is overlap enough that they will both thrive (my mutual tanks is at 74 degrees, Gh is around 4, Ph is around 7.. six of my ~40 cherries berried in the past week). So if you were planning on...
