Re: Tank Trois!
Thank you! I’ve gone from colorful decor to more contrasting setup, I was inspired by quite a few tanks on this forum!

Re: My Ecosphere Rescue Story
The shrimp kinda works out the maximum number on their own. Given the size and population of your tank, you probably don't have to worry about overcrowding for a while. And if push comes to shove, just start another tank!

Re: My Ecosphere Rescue Story
Very interesting! I don’t think I’ve observed the same in my tanks before, but then again, I didn’t see any chasing that many people describe as the “dance” either. Has the first female released her eggs yet?

Re: Tank Trois!
The more you think about a tank, the more you mess with it...I measured the salinity in cycling tank, and turned out the salinity was nearly at 1.020. So I took out some water and replenished with fresh water to bring the salinity down. And that's not all, I yanked some green algae growing in anothe...

Re: My Ecosphere Rescue Story
Here're some pictures: he mammoth pipipi snail and the eggs it deposited on the base of fake plant decor - kinda artfully arranged but gross to me at the same time. The odd thing is that these eggs appeared 3 weeks after I removed the male pipipi snails to another tank...

Re: Tank Trois!
Thank you! Wow 5th tank! I’m running out of room to put tanks, so I think the 3rd will be the last for a while. Lol
I use black sand as substrate too, I have a big bag from the first tank, I really like it cus it compliments the red shrimp.
Happy cycling!

The moss ball baby is pretty big then! Mine are all little dots still after about a year.

Tank Trois!
I love reading people's tank update threads, and I decided to start a thread on my new tank to post updates and pictures. This tank is currently on its 5th week of cycling. I don't see any visible sign of algae on the rocks or tank walls. There is a layer of biofilm on top that looks like oil ...

Re: No longer lurking
03amida, also the algae in your tank could be harder to see because of the dark colored rocks.

Re: No longer lurking
I'm following this thread as I have a similar situation with a cycling tank. It's been 4 weeks, and no brown algae yet. The bio-film was there after week one. I took Varanus' advice and adjusted the lid so there could be more air contact. I was getting antsy but Mustafa's response below reassured me...

Re: My Ecosphere Rescue Story
This is my personal experience with algae and snails: Tank #1 doesn't get direct sun, not much direct fresh air, no live plants, no feeding, has 2 half-inch pipipi snails and 20-30 trumpet snails. It has barely any visible algae and steady breeding activities in both opae ula and trumpet snails. <--...

Re: My Ecosphere Rescue Story
They will eat anything, including the algae scrapped off the tank walls. One reason they seem uninterested could be because there is sufficient food already. Imagine eating dessert after being full

Re: My Ecosphere Rescue Story
Wow, being able to witness that is pretty awesome! Congratulations on the berried female!
Improvement advice wise...I always go by the rule of "if there continues to be berried shrimp, do nothing"
