- Topic: Amano eating a cherry shrimp! Arrrg!!

You can rest pretty assured that it was not your Amano shrimp that killed the Cherry Red. The Cherry Red most likely died of natural causes and the Amano just happened to munch on it. Even your other Cherry Reds would munch on the dead one if they had a chance, but the Amano is faster, bigger and ca...

I doubt that the loss of color in your fish has anything to do with the temperature. It could just be that the temperature drop happened too quickly. Especially neon tetras do not like sudden changes. 25 degrees celsius is totally sufficient for tetras. Just a wait a couple days and you'll probably ...

Here is a site where they have a pic of the rainbow shrimp. The one in the picture is brownish like most of the 12 I have. But 2 are orange and one is black with the back strips a nice light tan. At 99 cents each I think they are great little algea eaters. Wow...99 cents?! That's half the price of ...

The 12 shrimps I bought are being sold under the name Japonica but I looked them up on the web and they seem to be Malayan shrimps. They look like amanos at first glance but the strip on the back bleeds to the sides and they changed colors once I got them in my tank. Most of them are brownish tan s...

Very nice Tank indeed! I better not post pictures of my tanks. One looks like a Java Moss jungle (the whole bottom is covered with a thick matt of Java Moss), the other one is a Hygrophila (and only Hygrophila) jungle and yet another one is just a tank without higher plants and with decomposing oak ...

At some point you'll have to start giving away some shrimp. Otherwise you'll have thousands of shrimp in dozens of tanks and they will keep growing in numbers until you spend all your salary on maintaining them. :-D It's interesting that the Crystal Reds are producing more young than the Red Cherrie...

More likely your jungle of plants have outcompeted the algae for resources so the algae don't grow. And the little that does grow does probably get eaten by the shrimp. The shrimp also love eating the micro-food that grows on the rotting leaf detritus among the plants. How many Crystal Reds do you t...
