Help - Hair algae in my shrimp tank ?

I used a 36W PL light on my 10 gallon tank with Java Moss and Christmas Moss. I used it to breed Red Cherry shrimps. Unfortunately, hair algae has began to cover the Mosses due to too much light. Red Cherry don't seem to eat the hair algae. How do I get rid of them ? Do I need to tear down the tank ...

Can I just buy some shrimps and send it to you in the US via DHL or FEDEX ? Is it legal ?

Can you also send me the Halocaridina rubra to Singapore via DHL or FEDEX ? What are the implications ?

If it's possible, then we can exchange shrimps ! :)

What are Diamond Shrimp ?

I just bought some Diamond shrimp.

They look a lot like bumblebee shrimp with black stripe except for its tail.
Are they a hybrid of some sort ?

They must have jump out. I found one yesterday crawling on the floor.

Anyway, I drained some water out of my tank so that the waterline is further away from the top of the tank. It works !

If it's eaten up, you will find some bodypart somewhere..

I just use the Testkits and did a water test.

kH = 3
pH = 8
NO2 = 0.9mg/l
NH3/NH4 = 0

Look like the tank is still mini-cycling... Any suggestion ?

Sexing Pearl shrimps

I have 2 Pearl Shrimps. One is pregnant and one is a juvenile.
Can someone teach me how to tell the sex apart ?

If it's also a female, then I need to find them a mate soon ! :)

I don't think so. I have used it for months.
Does anyone use liquid fertilizer in their shrimp tank ?

I don't use CO2 because after the light has been switch-off, the excessive CO2 might kill them. I don't use an air pump, just a hang-on filter.

Piscesgirl, The tank is running for about 6 mths. It has sucessfully bred 2 broods of red cherry shrimp. I used a fertilize substrate at the bottom and covered it with 3cm thick gravel. I have some Java Moss in the tank without CO2. I could have killed majority of the beneficial bacterial living in ...
