Stripes inherit dominant in all Cambarellus I bred so far. So no need to wonder. If you have only mottled animals, you will only get mottled offspring.
Cambarellus schmitti comes in striped and mottled, too.

I ask because the exporters say that they were from a freshwater system without direct contact to the sea. At least thats what a person from Germany reported who is very knowledgeable about shrimp. The person I bought them from had serratiostris, too. But those were way more expensive. So I am a bit...

These are not the same shrimp type. In Germany the first one would be called crosswalk shrimp or Necaridina babaulti var zebra and the other one Neocaridina babaulti var Malaya. I do not know if they crossbreed. The crosswalk shrimp stays much smaller. They do well in hard water an pH above 7 in my ...

Maybe all mexican Cambarellus in the hobby including the oranges are hybrids. If they are even real species and not just location types! The differences are few and maybe they get restructured when there is a review. It looks like my PhD research is going to focus on exactly this: a review of the g...

Actually all life forms suffer when you do inbreeding even plants. that is not completely true. There are many examples where inbreeding has no obvious negative results. 'The only important thing is the genes. Inbreeding only gives a individuum a higher chance of having some defects in both copies ...

I also think it is more the species that is important than any inbreeding effects. My Procambarus toltecae are very sensitive for example. Under conditions most other Procambarus would thrive in these could die because they do not like the conditions. They need good water quality, high oxygen and fe...

You should add plenty of oak leaves and leaves of other trees. Cherax like to eat that very much. And it also provides a lot of hiding places for the young ones. When all of them have left the mother, remove her from the tank. Adding brick stones will also add a lot of hiding places for the young on...

Do you really think it is possible to exterminate a population of shrimp in a whole lake, by just catching them? I have my doubts. I tI find it difficult enough only cleaning a 50l tank and trying to catch all shrimp. Some are always left. I think the bigger problem might be that their habitats stay...
