You just made me think of something. I am an outdoors-man. I spend days at a time in the forests of the Upper Peninsula. I never pack much water, instead I find artesian wells or well filtered spots in rivers and drink from them. Here in Marquette (municipal water), however, I buy most of the water ...

Patience in this hobby is a requisite. You should have waited until your tanks were fully cycled. At this point it is any person's guess as to how these shrimp will fare. Test your water, if you have ammonia and nitrIte readings above 0, do water changes, but know that shrimp do not like large water...

^True. I have observed one of my females give birth. The babies are incredibly small. I had no idea how small until I actually saw them. They are barely bigger than pencil lead. You often do not see them until they are a week or two old. They grow rather quickly, in my experience. I can usually tell...

Blue Zebra Shrimp?

Is this for real? It is called Blue Zebra Shrimp. That blue just does not look natural. The seller claims is it wild caught.

My apologies. I started things out on the wrong foot. I have since gone through past posts and have found the information I was looking for. Sorry for wasting space and presenting myself as an arrogant bastard.

If anything, it's the discus that would eat young shrimp, maybe even adult RCS? That's exactly what I think is happening. My discus are eating my RCS babies. I do not think they have eaten any of the big guys, yet, but I know if they were to try hard enough they would be able to. Sorry my last post...

I just had a disturbing realisation. I've had my discus tank up and running since June. A month and a half ago I put a dozen RCS in it. They're reproducing really well. I watch the shrimp all the time, I don't even really pay attention to the discus anymore. What's worse is that they are probably ea...

Or just let the tank carry out a normal cycle. Add shrimp now and you will lose most, if not all of them.

I have been researching Palaemonetes species for awhile now in hopes that I can raise a bit of awareness for this shrimp, it seems a lot of people just consider these species to be disposable. No shrimp is disposable. In my research I have not come across any brightly colored varieties of Palaemonet...

Thanks for the advice. I did, in fact, read the description on the Shrimp Varieties page. I asked the question because I was looking for advice from several people. I've been in the hobby for over decade, I know that one person's experience can vary greatly from another's. If desiring information fr...

Hi, I'm the newest new guy and I have a question. I may have found a source to get a couple dozen of these shrimp at a good price (yes they are captive bred). I understand that they are super adaptable. Do they do well in freshwater? I have heard yes and no. I would prefer responses from those who h...
