Thanks. The new camera is a real asset for my crayfish! That pic was a total accident though! I really need to learn to use it!

Mine are young crayfish and I really can't see well enough to tell if they are exactly alike. I also don't know if they all came from the same mother. I'll wait until I have more pics of them to compare the spots and such before I'll know. I have thought they were awesome since I first heard about t...

Thanks, I think he was beautiful as well. The female is the same gorgeous purple, but her claws aren't as big and don't have the white blister on the sides. I will be very happy when the babies grow up needless to say.

I don't know if they keep this coloration or not since these are the first marble crayfish I've ever had. I do know that one of them was a much darker brown last night. I think it mostly depends on the type of lighting they have as to the color they will be.

Bad Moult for my Male Hoa Creek

Other than the babies they have given me I only had a single original pair of the Hoa Creek crayfish, but last night my male died. I was fortunate enough to have taken some pics of him a few hours before he died and here is his final pic: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y226/v-l-p/100_0145.jpg I am...

I don't know what size tank is needed for that many, but I put 3 in a 40 gallon today. I wish I had thought about it before I did it since they are in one of my oldest tanks with lots of scratches on the glass. Here are pics of 2 of my 3 new babies: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y226/v-l-p/m5.jpg...

That's one of the one's I've heard of, but never seen documentation. Could you send me a copy of the article?

I agree wholehearted with you about leaving them where you find them. Taking lots of pics can help when trying to ID them later. Excellent find anyway! :D

Those are gorgeous! I really like that color blue on them even if we are suppose to be shooting for the darker ones.

I have read of 3 breeders who say they have had success artificially incubating and raising the fry with a 90% success rate, but have never seen any documentation on it. I can give you their names if you pm me. I know that two of them used slightly different methods, but I don't know about the third.

I've noticed the color changes a lot in my tanks. Some days all of them have a lot of blue and other days they are mostly brown. Only two of mine sometimes get the midnight blue color, but they sometimes go brown as well. I think it may be very hard to stabilize a crayfish that acts like a chameleon...

Congrats on your hatch!

I think the results of your experiment will be interesting as well. My hypothesis is that both the oak leaves or the plants will work equally well. :)

I've only had mine since the beginning of October, so I'm pretty pleased with having one fairly successful berry so far. :D
