Just open it for a few minutes each day will be fine. keeping it closed will help eliminate evaporation which is a good thing. Jack

I would suggest to leave it closed. Just open it maybe once a week or once every two weeks to allow for some air exchange. These shrimp do well in a low oxygen environment. Also, algae growth will release some oxygen into the water. When you notice the water level has dropped by around 10% due to evaporation, just top it off with either distilled or R/O water. The salt will not evaporate.

Yes, leave it closed. These canopies and most lids for containers aren't airtight anyway.
