How to Keep Macroalgae Alive From Petshrimp

Post by Vorteil »

I have the macroalgae from Petshrimp. It does grow pretty fast. I want to trim it down. Can I put the excess in a 1 gallon bottle, light direct sun in the house. Will it survive? or what do I need to do?

Yes, it will survive, but it won't grow further unless it gets nutrients somehow. Just make sure that the "direct sun" does not heat the water excessively.

How can we provide it with nutrients? Apart from starting a new Opae Ula tank... ;-)

That's something you'll need to experiment with I guess. To thrive it needs nutrients somehow, either from animals or aquatic fertilizers. I'd stick with animals..like snails.
