Darkness mostly or Light?

Post by nlyzzzzz »

Does the opae ulas prefer a darker environment or an environment with normal light? Would a tank that is mostly dark encourage breeding ?

Aside from females carrying eggs (who do hide away more than other individuals), the shrimp don't seem to have any preferences regarding light and Mustafa breeds them just fine even in tanks with no hiding places.

What light does do is encourage algae growth for the shrimp to eat, hence why its recommended you keep a light on for about twelve hours a day.
