Gonochoric Triops Longicaudatus

Post by Nion »

Has anyone had these produce eggs that hatch without drying? I have what appear to be a male and female. I understand that they do not necessarily have to mate to have eggs but I can see the female is definitely carrying eggs.

I was just wondering if I'm going to have to dry out the sand before I try another hatch.

They do reproduce asexually if you don't have a male and female.

I've never heard of any Triops eggs hatching without being dried out first, although certain brine shrimp eggs will.

My last batch of Triops were Triops Cancriformis, and after they were done, I continued to use the tank for shrimp. There are plenty of eggs in there, the last triops died off last summer, and I still regularly spot eggs. There are plenty of copepods scooting about, but I don't expect I'll ever see a baby Triops swimming around in there.
